I attended Boot camp, which is an intensive 4-5 day workshop where the participants manufacture clothing for charity. We (a group of about 23) made 107 children's coats to be given to kids on the Native American reservations around the area. This manufacturing factory and school is owned and run by Kathleen Fasanella and her husband Eric Husman. This was the experience of a lifetime. We manufacture matching swimwear (Snappy LLC) for women, girls and infants and I was looking to hone my industrial sewing and sewing employee and project management skills. This was definitely accomplished and then some. It is intense, and Kathleen (a well-respected industry expert, and if you are interested in design and this kind of thing, read her book, The Entrepreneur's Guide To Sewn Product Manufacturing. It's available on Amazon. If you purchase it new, membership to her forum, which I believe is the largest and most comprehensive on the subject, is free.) was a generous host. Eric is great also. But be prepared to work. If you want to learn how sewn product manufacturing is done in the real word, this is the place to go.
