This coin shop is located at approximately San Mateo and Candelaria in Albuquerque, New Mexico. You have to get buzzed in. Overall, the store is fairly small. Having collected coins as a personal hobby for over 30-years, here are my pros and cons of this local coin shop.Pros:- They have a wide selection of coins, national and international.- Their selling prices are reasonable.- Good selection of national and international silver bullion coins. - A lot of american proof sets. - A lot of coin supplies, large coin cases, individual "air-tite" cases, etc.Cons:- If selling coins, the owner is not completely upfront and articulate about how he is valuing the coins.- If selling coins, you may want to compare what he offers, with what other coin shops in Albuquerque offer. - If selling coins, ask him how he values the different coins. He may not say this out loud. - If selling slabbed coins, he seems to value slabbed and graded coins the same as loose and ungraded coins. This approach may be fine for a strictly gold and silver store, but is not reasonable for a numismatic coin shop. Obviously, there is a value in the slab itself. - Very few gold coins. When I visited, he had only fractional gold coins.- A relatively small selection of coins, compared to other local coin shops I have visited over the years. Also, while the coin selection is diverse, most of the coins being sold are generally in poor condition. Do not go here looking for a bargain or a steal. I suspect he has nicer coins in his inventory, but they are not on display.- Does not give a receipt of your coin sale.Overall, a decent local coin store.

I've been reading a lot of reviews lately about Peter and how he runs his shop. I don't understand the negative ones. I've been to his shop about five times and he has been nothing short of accommodating. He is direct, which I respect, and doesn't beat around the bush. He tells you if you have something valuable and when you don't. He's very knowledgeable about coins and precious metals. In summary, don't go anywhere else. Peter is fair, honest, and has a good sense of humor.

Cons: I wish it were bigger and a lot closer to where I live, it was that much fun to visit.Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Peter gave me some advice on a coin I thought was valuable (probably not, but it was good to ask). Note that customers/visitors have to be buzzed in, but considering the merchandise, that makes sense. Store has a good stock of what you might need, particularly coin collecting supplies. Lots of old coins and new, and no doubt other collectable materials that are good for oneself and for presents (Christmas is coming!). Store is open on Saturdays! (but closed on Wednesday and Sunday). I'll be going back for sure!

My wife is the personal representative of her late mother's estate and aside from selling off 3 properties, she has a house full of personal items which need to be appraised. We are from Seattle so this makes the task more difficult. We came across a safe containing a modest coin collection and reached out to the few people we know here and Albuquerque Coins was highly recommended. My wife contacted the owner Peter Bilan and he was very patient with her while she Described what we had. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience, we got the value of the collection and Peter told if we come across anything else we need help with don't hesitate to call. A true expert in his field !!

Owner is a walking database of coins. Have made two recent visits as I have the unwelcome task of clearing out my mother's house. He knew exactly what I has and made a no nonsense offer both times. If I unearth anything that I think might be more than laundry money I will make another visit.

Came in here looking for foreign silver coins. I'm a jeweler and wanted to make something special for a client. The owner literally dumped a bucket of foreign silver coins on a pad and let me search through them for as long as I wanted. I didn't feel pressured or like I was inconveniencing him. He was pleasant and cracked some jokes as well. It was a great experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the market as well as the details of his inventory. I'll definitely be back any time I'm looking for coins!

Horrible experience. This guy is just rude, dismissive and try's to make his customers feel like they don't know what they know. He is belittling and has a Napoleon complex. A skinny little guy with a big gun on his hip that he want everyone to know if there. We went in to sells some coins and scrap gold. He pulled his calculator out, pushed some buttons and tossed it on the counter like he was doing us a favor if he bought anything from us. Stay away from this guy. We went down the block and got a much better reception. This is not a family run environment. walk a half a block and get a better experience.

Peter did a great job helping us select coins for our granddaughter. We are helping her get started collecting. He helped us select an assortment of pennies which are perfect for beginners, and not too expensive. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and instilled confidence that we were getting the best assortment of coins. The experience was refreshing, and well beyond our expectations. We will be going back.
