Academy Kennels Boarding & Grooming Salon

We have known and worked with Kim (the NEW owner) for almost 8 years through ARGOS, A Dog Rescue. She knows dogs very well and is almost a "whisperer". She has completely turned Academy Kennels around and now into a simply wonderful place for boarding, day camps, and grooming. The place is spotlessly clean, well maintained, and very conveniently located. The staff and crew are friendly and totally on top of everything. One of our pips has separation anxiety and is extremely sensitive to routine changes. But Academy keeps things on track and Daisy is extremely comfortable and engaged with them. This is our new "go to" kennel. Always a pleasure and never disappointed. Simply outstanding "home away from home" for our pups.

I dropped both of my pups off at Academy for the 1st time this past weekend, and they seemed to have a great stay. I was hesitant with the low overall score for the company on Yelp- but it seems like since new owners took over, it's been completely different. My dogs did a room together. They have the capability to groom pups (see before/after pics for my pup), use your dog food/theres, and have extra play times. Only downside is I wish they would send photo/video updates or have a live stream.

We love Academy Kennels. Our dog, Beefy, has stayed here many times and will be staying here again on Christmas. He is always so well taken care of and I feel lucky to have aa place I feel safe leaving him.

Love this place! They are great with my three dogs and I know they are well treated while staying there. It is also affordable and I love that they are open on Sunday from 3-5 for pick up! I will continue to use them anytime I need boarding services.

Warm and caring staff, would not board my pup anywhere else. He came home happy and healthy!

Well, I wish I had done more research because I now have 3 very sick dogs.This was our first and last time using this place. They nickel and dime you for just basic animal care like letting them run around, which I now question if mine were taken out to play at all. I paid 20 dollars extra per day for this. You have to pay extra to feed them their own food and treats too, guarantee for upset stomachs afterwards, yep mine did.I too freshly bathed my dogs before dropping them off and they smelled of urine when I picked them up. Now, all 3 have kennel cough too!All the owner said on a voice message was that they wouldn't knowingly accept a dog with kennel cough. What kind of response is that; obviously!No mention of helping with the vet bill at all.I will tell everyone I know not to use this place and am wondering how many other sick dogs there are this week.My dogs boarded 8/1-8/5 and the placed was packed... so there has to be others.I feel like a horrible owner and what was supposed to be a little stress free getaway for two first responders, has turned into a very expensive and stressful week.I'll end on a positive note: my dogs are very loved and forgiving.

Our dog came back from a short two days here and immediately drank two full bowls of water. He was so stressed out and the worker wouldn't bring him out to us because he was barking (because all the other dogs were as well). We also paid for additional playtime but if they wouldn't take him out to go home, we assume they never did and he never got his playtime. Overpriced for what looks like a pound. Won't be going back - DO NOT recommend.

I can't say enough good things about this place it has been a Godsend to me and to my family. They are wonderful with the animals I knew the first time I walked in there my dog would be ok just by seeing the atmosphere you could tell right away that they truly love animals Garren loves it there and excited every time he sees the van come to pick him up

Staff is rude and the dogs are left outside in the hot sun unattended! Would not recommend taking your dogs here much less boarding them for any extended period of time!

Not good is an understatement. This place is awful! The check in process was horrible. The owner is rude and condescending. She was aggravated the entire time during check in. She asked why there were four cards when I only have two dogs and if I was bringing in more dogs. "No ma'am, just the two dogs." Then WHY she asked, again. In my head I am thinking, "I do not work there. It's not like I made the mistake." She said I must have called in twice and passed the blame to me. Okay.She asked us to meet her out front and she would bring the dogs back. We waited in front of the building for awhile and I came inside eventually to ask when she was going to meet with us out front, like she had asked. Her response was, "This is NOT a vet clinic. You bring the dogs IN." Anyways... She had us take our dogs to the back and put them in ourselves. Those kennels were absolutely disgusting. The bars were rusted, small, and she made it apparent that she would have no interaction with our dogs. We were supposed to board our two dogs for 4 nights but picked them up the following day due to some unforeseen circumstances. Thank goodness we did, though! Apparently she administered our puppy medication intended for our 10 year old dog. My dogs paws came back raw and on the verge of bleeding. My dog does not pee in the house any longer and she had her first accident in forever within hours of bringing them home. They acted like they had not had water their entire time there. One day and night of neglect was sad to witness. Our dog walked around with her tail between her legs and seemed off. I can't imagine what we would have come back to after 5 days and 4 nights. During checkout, the younger girl checking us out was frazzled and asked if she could help us. Two minutes later she asked if she could help us, as if we had not been standing right in front of her and were new customers or something. She eventually went to the back and let the owner take over because she was having a hard time figuring out the pricing. Our patients were running low after they tried billing us $400+. She couldn't even remember that we checked in the morning prior. We weren't charged for play time and I am assuming that's because wasn't given. I would never recommend this place and am spreading my experience like wildfire.
