I live in an older home that has been remodeled several times over the years. I was considering moving some units around, and installing wall heaters upstairs thinking I could greatly improve my system. I called Academy for advice, and they sent their field expert (Bill Collins) over to assess my situation. He spent over an hour at my home. He recommended some affordable tweaks to the system I have, and convinced me that I could easily improve the existing layout and save a bunch of money. He didn't try to sell me any services or products. When he was leaving, I asked that Academy send me a bill for his time. He told me there was no charge & that Academy considers my call a customer service. I will be a customer when I will need upgrades or repairs, so the company philosophy worked perfectly. I am writing this review, and will tell friends in my network... so there you go!Charlie Burk

Called to get a quote for a new heat/cooling system. In the two hours the tech was here he some how managed to mess up my working system, that I had just paid money to get fixed, and tell me that it would cost a few thousand to fix. I was told multiple times that it was never actually fixed, even though before he touched it we had heat. After feeling backed in a corner to agree to services I asked him to just fix whatever he had done, and he said he would plug it back in. He had made a call to get another person to come over and look at it but in that conversation name called my mother for being upset that he kept trying to tell us we didn't have heat, which was only true after he messed with my system. Did not feel like he listened to me at all and will not be using them or recommending them at all.

I wouldn't have The first tech said the wires got hot, lit the pilot and left, without any testing done on the heater. The pilot went out a couple hours later. I called their office, and was advised that they could not get back out for 3 more days. 2 techs came this time, they stated the burner assembly went out. I ordered the part 1 week later they put the part in. The pilot went out again in again. This was a Friday. I went to work came home. No hot water still. Of course the office was closed. They had an EMERGENCY number listed. I called it over 12 times and left messages, and 1 message at the office number just in case someone checked the messages. No reply until Monday morning. 2 more techs came out and installed another part. They did advise me there would be no charge. As soon as they were done. THEY CHARGED ME. They also had the nerve to put on the invoice, that the unit was working. The unit was not working. They tried to put the blame on the water heater company. If you want a unreliable, worthless company that will do nothing but aggravate you. This is the company for you.

After paying $850 last week to have my AC fixed and having this company come back out because it wasn't fixed correctly the first time I was called a "cheap customer" for disputing an additional $875 bill. The person I was talking to claimed to be the owner and was the person who told me I was a cheap customer and refused to give me his name. The "owner" told me if I wanted his name that I could drive down to get his name in person. This is not a company I would recommend. Please don't make the mistake I did and use this company.

Our furnace went out and for a variety of reasons it took longer than I had anticipted for it to get fully repaired. Academy ended up giving me a considerable discount on the bill. Everyone I dealt with there was very pleasant and professional; I learned about Yelp a few weeks ago and thought it would be good to use it to let folks know about my positive experience with this company - so that's what I'm doing!
