Apparently, ABQ Health partners is struggling to make ends meet. I received a bill (first bill ever for this charge) in December for $20. The charge was supposedly from a visit I made in September of 2010! There were no details or a breakdown, other than my insurance had paid all but $20, and therefore I owed this amount. I'm assuming this would've been my co-pay, since thIs is my normal co-pay amount. I ALWAYS paid my co-pay at every visit. Not sure what's going on. Let me back up just a bit..I stopped using ABQ Health Partners in 2011, because they were by far, the most unprofessional healthcare provider I have ever experienced. Ridiculous long wait times, surly receptionists, typically rude staff people, and lousy results from the doctors. When I found a new doctor elsewhere, 2 formal requests were submitted to have my records transferred. ABQ Health Partners has ignored the requests to this day. Back to now. I just recently received this $20 bill for a charge that is over 6 years old. I called the ABQ HP billing department and got nowhere. Today, I get a nasty letter from a collection agency for $20. I paid it. But I'm so NOT impressed with this 2-bit joke called ABQ Health Partners. ABQ Health Partners. YOU ARE PATHETIC! Enjoy your 20 bucks. You'll never get another dime from me or anyone in my family.

I specifically tied this review to the medical center I visited, however, this is regarding billing and not technically specific to one center. I would expect similar billing issues with all locations. I went in for a preventative care appointment in December 2015. I specifically told the lady at the front desk I was there for my preventative care appointment, and she still collected my $20 co-pay. At the time I was unaware that co-pays are not required for preventive care appointments, so I paid the fee. I later learned about the no co-pay requirement for preventative care appointments. I figured since a co-pay was collected, the appointment must have been billed to my insurance as a regular office visit. I visited the office again in May 2016 and told the lady at the front desk I was there for my preventative care visit (assuming it was not billed as preventive in December). She attempted to collect a $20 co-pay from me and I told her that a co-pay is not allowed to be collected for preventive care appointments. I later received a bill for the full amount of my preventative care appointment. I spoke with the billing department and they told me my insurance denied my claim since I had already had a preventive care appointment in December 2015. I told them that my December 2015 was billed incorrectly to my insurance in December since a co-pay was collected from me they could not bill it as a preventative appointment. She said they would rebill the December 2015 appointment as a regular appointment. I then received another bill in September for a portion of the May 2016 appointment. I called my insurance and they called the billing department at ABQ Health Partners while I waited on the other line. My insurance came back on the line with me and told me the bill was resolved and it was an old statement that I was looking at. The billing department at ABQ Health Partners told my insurance company that my account had a zero balance. Then in November 2016 I received a third bill saying I owed a $20 co-pay for the May 2016 appointment. I spoke to my insurance and told them about the situation and that last time we had spoken they talked to ABQ Health Partners and were told everything was at a $0 balance. My insurance company pointed out that on this current bill ABQ Health Partners had billed me for a preventative care appointment and a regular office visit both for the May 2016 appointment and that I owed a $20 co-pay for the regular office visit on that day. I called ABQ Health Partners and asked why I was being billed for two types of appointments during the same visit. I was told that I requested a preventive care appointment, but since I was also there to see the doctor about a cough that qualified as a regular office visit as well. I do not understand how I can be billed for two types of office visits during the same office visit. Be wary of this company they are just out to get you and your insurance company for as much as they can get.
