I hired Jim and Karyn to design a groom's cake for our wedding this past weekend, and I could not have been happier with the result. They took my idea and ran with it. The cake was better than I could have ever imagined. It received so many compliments and the catering manager at the Four Seasons said it was one of the coolest groom's cakes he's seen. Most importantly, my husband loved it so much that he didn't want to cut it! Jim and Karyn were super easy to work with, and they were reliable and punctual on my wedding day-- all important qualities to consider when choosing a wedding vendor.Overall, I highly recommend A Cake Odyssey.

I have always gotten my cakes at Chocolate Maven, but have been disappointed with recent experiences. . . . Decided to try Cake Odyssey. I ordered a birthday cake, chocolate cake with buttercream icing, with orange flower decor. OMG it was BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS! Layered with buttercream inside. The flowers on top weren't just your average cake decor--they were gorgeous, 3D flowers in an arrangement. AND they spelled the recipient's name right! When I called to place the order, Jim, one of the owners, said they were overbooked for the weekend. . . but he made it happen anyway. It was ready when I arrived at the store. It was more expensive than Chocolate Maven, but so much prettier. I'll use Cake Odyssey again!

I ordered a simple small 6"/8" 2-tier buttercream wedding cake by phone 2 weeks before our event. I paid Jim $359.32 over the phone. Later that day I canceled. Jim would not provide a full refund saying he would charge a cancelation fee. I told him that seemed unreasonable. That fee was not mentioned when we placed our order. And, less than 24 hours had passed. The refund we received was short $63.32. Of course he had not started baking or buying ingredients for this small cake 2 weeks before the event. And it was so simple it required no design work at all. It's really sad that he felt the need to take $63.32 from us for no reason. Just very poor, shortsighted customer service. He could have left us as strong promoters of his business and come to him with future event orders, but instead we feel bad about our interaction.

A little over 5 years ago, A Cake Odyssey made my wedding cake. It was perfect and to this day, the best cake I've ever eaten.

Jim at "A Cake Odyssey" is awesome. He's made several cakes for us in the past and they have always been presented beautifully and tasted excellent. The reason for my review....I was forced to change the pickup time of my cake not once, but twice. And each time he was accommodating and patient - even though it's an extremely busy season for him. Thank you for understanding my situation and your willingness to make a customer happy!

When I ordered our cake from A Cake Odyssey, I spoke with Jim, explained what I wanted, and he read it back to me. I sent a photo. My wedding planner also sent a photo. What was delivered on our wedding day bore no resemblance to what we ordered, and what was delivered was visibly not well done. Our planner was so freaked out by it that she took off without a word to a florist to buy flowers to try and make it look presentable as a wedding cake-- we obviously had to roll with it at that point. I had been so jazzed about the cake I ordered and had been talking it up to my fiancé for weeks! So it was upsetting. I called the bakery and left a message, even questioning whether this was supposed to be our cake--that's how "off" it was. I requested a call back the next morning. None came. Our planner was able to reach Jim, who confirmed he received my message and would call me. He never did. A week later our planner called again, and again was told someone would call me. No call. I sent an email to Jim expressing frustration and disappointment and requesting a refund. No call, no reply email, no refund. Basically--they messed up our cake and simply didn't care. After I posted a comment about what happened online weeks and weeks later, Jim finally reached out to me but they didn't take responsibility for messing up our cake and wasn't empathetic at all--it was a half-hearted attempt at best. We're shocked by all of this but there it is. Maybe because it was a very small order (we eloped), we simply don't matter--that, I don't know. What I do know is that we can never get that moment back--ever. :(
