How the heck does this place exist?? The prices are cheaper than anywhere I've been, the quality of the salmon nigiri is on par with some of the best sushi I've had, and the service is quick, kind, and attentive! Even the atmosphere inside is super stylish and fun!Even if you aren't into the sushi, the yakitori, udon soup, seaweed salad, heck even their matcha ice cream is delicious! If you haven't been here, change that NOW. If you have, you know what I'm talking about! Thank you Akita for existing!

This is a made-to-order AYCE. Sushi--in terms of quality of fish, they're not the freshest, but they're okay. I enjoyed their tamago though Udon--decent sized bowl with good noodles, some shrimp in itPork cutlet and chicken and beef teriyaki were overcooked and small unfortunately. I would say that where this place shines is their menu variety and tempura. We really enjoyed their broccoli, eggplant, yam, mushroom, and calamari tempuras--we got multiple orders! (Each order of tempura comes as 1 tempura) I also loved their crab rangoons and green tea ice cream. They also have vanilla ice cream and butter pecan ice cream for dessert options that is part of the AYCE. I also really appreciate their affordable price--$18.99/per person for lunch at this time of writing. And friendly, attentive staff. It was quiet when we were there, but as expected on a Tuesday afternoon. Overall, an okay option if not wanting to travel out to the Mesa/tempe area. Hope this helps to all my fellow sushi lovers out there :)

Met up with some friend for dinner on a Saturday night and Akita Sushi was the placed we picked. We were a party of 6 and got seated pretty quickly.Found out pretty quickly that it was all you can eat and got to work on placing my orders. I went with a phily roll, tuna roll, rainbow roll, oshinko roll and some crab sticks. Before I knew it was stuff and my sushi craving was satisfied.Even though we were a good size group our food came out in a timely matter and service was quick with keeping up with everyone orders.Glad to have given Akita Sushi a try!

The sushi at this restaurant tasted like sushi served at Chinese buffets. Nothing I had was good, except for the seaweed salad, but I don't think they make it here. The nigiri just did not taste fresh or flavorful at all so I was very disappointed. The udon had no flavor whatsoever and the squid tempura was pretty much all batter. Just surprised at how nothing tasted flavorful. Really needed the bowl of ice cream to cleanse my palate. 2 stars for the food, but service was very good and the server was very attentive so I'm bumping to 3 stars solely due to service. Needless to say, I won't be back here. There are so many other AYCE sushi options, but after this experience I don't think I'll be going to any AYCE sushi for awhile.

We went here for lunch based on the good recent reviews. We were the first patrons for lunch and seated quickly. We were handed the lunch menu and advised it was $18.95 for AYCE and given many order cards. I always start off with a miso soup whenever I have sushi and you can also kind of judge what their food will taste like based on the taste of the miso soup. Well, I was very disappointed with how salty it was! Hubby said buffet places do that to make you drink more water and the sushi rice will swell up and you can't eat too much. Haha but I think it's true!Next to arrive was the spiny tuna rolls and it had a weird orange color. Tuna's supposed to have a vibrant red color! The taste was off putting to me. The shrimp tempura were very skinny and coated with a finely crushed panko crust rather than your traditional tempura batter. It was meh at best. The dipping sauce tasted very watered down too.We had a plate of nigiri and they had no flavor at all. At this point I just didn't want anymore but the menu stated they'll charge you for leftover food so I decided to finish what I had left and just be done with it. Bad enough to get bad food and then get charged even more for not finishing it. I thought I couldn't go wrong with ice cream so asked for some green tea ice cream and it was good. When I told the hubs that was the best part of the meal, he said it's because they don't make it at the restaurant. Sad but true. The service was very prompt, friendly and good, but I sadly will not return to this restaurant as it was the worst food I've had in a very long time. I normally will not try out a place if the Yelp rating is under 4.0, so it was a lesson learned.

We were seated fairly quickly. The menu with pictures had descriptions of the rolls and their components. We had about 5 rolls altogether along with several pieces of sashimi. I liked the out of control roll (8pcs) (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce) and the angry dragon roll (8pcs)(Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, mango, topped with sliced crab stick and eel sauce). We also got the tuna mango roll (8pcs) (Salmon avocado, mango, topped with tuna and black tobiko, honey wasabi sauce & miso sauce). It tasted sweet and I could taste the wasabi on top. We got the spicy tuna roll too. Another roll we had was the Akita roll (8pcs) (eel, avocado, cucumber inside. Top marinated lobster meat with eel sauce). The marinated lobster meat has a distinct flavor. I couldn't say what it is exactly though. The pieces of sashimi are cute and a good size for me. When we got our first pieces they were nice and cold. I also had the miso soup which was typical and good. The shrimp tempura had a light batter which was good. The green tea ice cream and the vanilla ice cream had unique flavors. I wonder if they were made with yogurt. It reminded me of Yakult. They both had a light citrus lemon taste. The vanilla tasted like lemon merengue. I think my citrus loving friend would like this ice cream. They have a nice parking lot but if you exit from the west side you can only make a right. They are easy to find as they are right on the corner.

I've been going to Akita for many years and it really has never changed. Most of the all you can eat places are a little farther for us so we enjoy having this near by. Quality of the fish I think is the same across the current AYCE in phoenix and good for the price. I personally like to go for the lunch price as it seems more bang for your buck. They always have steady and quick service. The atmosphere feels pretty old but it's clean and I'm there to stuff my face with sushi so it doesn't bother me. probably wouldn't go here for a romantic date

A good choice for AYCE sushi near Scottsdale, $28/dinner including sashimi cuts, apps, and nigiri/rolls. We came in a big group after the Waste Management open, so an early dinner after drinking all day may have swayed how yummy it was this time around. We were a large 11 top, immediately seated and served. Can't complain, the server was quick, we left happy.

Friendly service. Great AYCE menu. The volcano roll was my favorite and my daughter enjoyed the love on an island (something like that)
