We went during happy hour and had the $55 omakase. Sushi was fresh and flavorful. Worth it for the price. My favorite was the crudo and nigiri. Service was good. They have a bamboo pathway to the restroom! Super cool, had to get a pic there.

We made a last-minute reservation for Mother's Day brunch. They offered Mother's Day omakase when we arrived.Overall, the service is good, and the food is good-decent. We won't come back because we have other options we like more, but this is an option.

Exciting to try a new sushi spot inside the loop! They have happy hour omakase, which I've never seen before. We were able to walk-in on a Thursday around 5pm and get a seat at the sushi bar. We always enjoy watching the chefs prepare the meats and rolls. We loved the eggplant, hand rolls (especially spicy tuna), crudo, and semifreddo dessert. Service was friendly and ambiance was casual; would dine again.

My sister and I made dinner reservations for our younger sister's birthday here on a Friday night. We came to enjoy their curated "social hour" menu as well as other items on their regular menu. Parking is complimentary and is right next to the restaurant. The atmosphere inside is modern and clean. The restaurant is partitioned off by large curtains from any natural lighting so you will need to make do with the table light for my food photographers out there. Each of us tried their social hour omakase which was a really good deal. It came with 8 items for $45. All items were fantastic! The fish was fresh and nicely seasoned. We also ordered a few other items from their Social Hour menu. We ended with the foie gras gunkan which was chefs kiss* and our favorite!Service was superb! Our waiter was knowledgeable about each dish, very attentive, and came back to check on us frequently. If I lived in Houston I would no doubt be dining here frequently!

My recent food obsession has been omakase sushi. So hopefully you'll continue seeing more reviews around town.My wife and I are finally at a point where we feel comfortable leaving the twins at home and having periodic date nights. On this particular night we ended up at Aiko. They advertise their omakase for happy hour with a $10 discount at $45 per person. We sat at a table instead of the bar, so we did not get a chance to interact with the chefs, I do miss that aspect of omakase. So I'll state that yes it is chefs choice but it's more of a combo, comes with certain pieces but it comes out all at once and with not much discretion besides what is on the sheet. However, my wife and I don't mind as we really do most of our judgement via the actual taste. This omakase was solid value but we really only got exposed to one new fish that we wouldn't normally order, the Masu/ocean trout. This was delicious! And I will continue looking for this at other restaurants. We ordered additional items from both their happy hour menu and their normal menu since the omakase is smaller than other places. I did notice that they did offer Engawa on a limited basis, sadly they were out on this particular night. We added on fatty tuna, uni, and froi gras. The froi gras was one of the best pieces I have had at any restaurant and I can't wait to come back just for that alone! The service was very attentive and the pieces came out at a good pace. I didn't feel overwhelmed but I was not waiting around.

We came for happy hour and had the $45 omakase. We sat at the bar with Jesus. Each dish came out timely and everything was so good. My favorite was the chutoro and otoro. The lychee martini was also delish. We also got a complimentary birthday dish of scallops. The service was very attentive. We never had to ask for anything. The bamboo walkway to the restroom was very picturesque. Would definitely come back here to try some more dishes.

The atmosphere is very trendy and unique. I can't say that I've seen another restaurant incorporate rubber ducks in their decor. The hallway to the bathrooms is a trippy and unique experience (see photos).Great detail is taken in the presentation of each dish. They were all delightful. They have a happy hour omakase option that is fairly budget-friendly. When supplemented with an appetizer, the kaarage, we found this was enough for a full meal. The staff were very attentive. The last time we were in here the manager was very involved in our dining experience. He helped my husband pick out a Japanese whiskey. Also, a complimentary extra fish dish was sent

Hey yall if you love Handies you gotta come check out the sister restaurant Aiko. There's valet across the street but not necessary because there's plenty of street parking for free. We walked in and was greeted immediately and the bar is so cute. Asked in and was seated right away. Reservations highly recommended because the restaurant is small with limited seating. Started off the lychee martini which was delicious. I would have liked it filled to the rim lol . Anyways, there's plenty of omakase to choose from, we had 4 girls so we opt to do the $55 and do a la carte. Sooo good yall fish is absolutely fresh, and the salmon belly and foie gras is amazing. I will definitely be back !! Server was great always recommending great plates and always checking up on us. I can't wait to be back , great GNO, date nights or even a weekend dinner.

Man, a time was had at Aiko! Sushi was fresh, service was on point and we will definitely be back. I went with friends after a Derby event right across the street at Julep. Hungry and full of energy we walked cross the street to Aiko. Funny surprise that it had some inspiration from Chef Patrick of Kokoro. It was excellent. Attached are pics from my Omakase experience and beyond.

After a recent visit to LA where I experienced omakase sushi for the first time, I was determined to find a similar experience in Houston. After scouring the net for reviews, I decided that I would give Aiko a try. Literally everyone in the establishment was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating--from the host, to the bartenders, and the waitstaff. The gentleman who I am sure is one of the managers made it a point to explain the offerings to my guest and I, and also checked on us to gauge our perception of the experience. Jeff, our host for the evening, was also very friendly and kindly explained the various fish as they were being served. Every piece of sushi was so fresh and delicious. I am pescatarian and sushi is probably my favorite type of food. I also appreciate straightforward, no frills sushi (I don't need exotic modifications to enjoy sushi). Aiko gets it right!Located on Washington avenue, the free valet parking was also much appreciated. I am in the process of exploring various omakase experiences here in Houston, but I have already decided that Aiko will be a place that remains in rotation.
