African Food Kitchen

I love African Food Kitchen! I find them every week at the La Mesa farmers market and they never fail to put a smile on my face, a pep in my step, and a pile of absolutely delicious food in my tummy. This is hands down my favorite place to go when I'm in the mood for some cozy comfort food . No matter what you order, their portion sizes exceed generous and enter a realm of pure benevolence. You can combine a variety of foods when you order their combo plate- my favorite combination is an order of their Curry chicken, their sweet jerk chicken, their lentils, and their greens, all over their coconut and saffron rice. It's such a wild amalgamation of flavors that might taste buds can't help but do backflips all the way home as they look forward to what awaits. Their unique flavors mixed with their infectiously positive personalities make me highly recommend these folks anytime you run into them at a farmers market or Festival. Your tummy will thank you. Trust.

Downtown LA This is 4-5 stars. Given a sample and I was hooked. Anytime I caught sight of the sign I knew I would have a plentiful plate filled with every food that would fill my mind body and soul. The type of food that makes you want to dance as you eat but you don't want to accidently drop anything. The Lentils are a must!But then ...San Diego/Vista The basic foundation is there but it feels like they are catering to a specific demographic when in the area - and I'm not it. All the food was well cooked but under seasoned.

This plate of food stopped me in my tracks at La Mesa Farmers Market. Delicious chicken options & savory sides for non meat eaters. I will be back.

they were at the Saturday morning farmers market at Mira Costa College. Their food is really delicious, particularly the spicy chicken. The meal came with two types of rice, spicy and sweet chicken and sides of lentils, and vegetable curry. Easily enough to feed two people but I ate it all because it was soooo good. Will definitely be a regular customer every week.

I go to the La Mesa Farmer's market every Friday, basically so I can have this as my dinner. Sweet chicken and spicy chicken are both incredible. I also love the saffron rice and the collard greens. I would love to know what spices they use on both types of chicken. I absolutely LOVE this food.

Tried the food at the Santee Farmer's Market. The lady was very kind, let us sample some chicken flavors. We tried the sweet chicken, curry chicken and spicy chicken. I LOVED the curry chicken and my daughter really liked the spicy chicken. The sweet chicken had a good flavor, but the curry beat it for me. The coconut quinoa bean rice was bomb! It was a filling portion of meat and rice. I had to take it home to finish it.I loved that it tasted homemade with Will definitely be back again!

I believe they are new at the Cardiff Farmers market also. Delicious feel good food!!!

Great meal! Generous portions and good price, $20 The spicy chicken was tender and not too spicy, the collards were very different from what I was use to.. I loved them. Rice was flavorful.

First time trying African food and found African Food Kitchen's to be delicious. Generous portions and friendly service, they even give samples so you can decide on what to order. Chicken is delicious even without the sauce!
