Adalynes Chicken Shack is a bit like Imperial Fish Market. https://www.hungryones.com/2022/05/imperial-fish-market/ You can buy fish by the pound and they will fry it for you. I arrived at 11am but there wasn't any fish out nor was there any when I left at noon. I guess the lunch crowd isn't a big buyer of fresh fish. I tried the fish and 1 side with 4 shrimp. For my side I picked onion rings. I liked the crunchy beer batter and onions. Shrimp had a crunchy batter and mild shrimp flavor. I picked whiting for the 2 pieces of fish. Corn meal batter gave a nice crunchy texture. Whiting had a strong fishy flavor I didn't like. Da Chicken Coop is the only place in town I've had great tasting whiting at. https://www.hungryones.com/2020/03/da-chicken-coop-4/I hate to say it but the option I picked was too much fried food. Next time I'd just get the fish and side dish. Hopefully the catfish and red snapper are better quality than the whiting.2nd visit I tried the 2 piece fish with side. Crinkle cut fries are one of my favorites. Sadly these were overcooked. Some of them were hard and dried out. Many had browning on the edges and had a burnt flavor. I rarely come across fries with a burnt flavor but I guess crinkle cut fries need to be carefully watched while frying. Shack Shake is where I normally get these fries.Catfish was ordered mild and was extremely mild. I didn't taste any of that distinctive catfish flavor you get when you eat catfish. Cornmeal batter added a crunchy component but didn't really add much flavor. Catfish was cooked properly as the fish was moist while the cornmeal batter was crunchy. Felix's BBQ is my favorite spot for fried catfish.I was here at noon and there wasn't any fish out for display. 2 customers came in for takeout as I was leaving. Hope they have better business for dinner as the lone employee was nice and got my order out promptly.

I had driven by Adalynes Chicken Shack & Fish Market recently before their grand opening. The building looked nice, but I noticed the number of on-site parking spaces was limited. When you walk in, there was a dining room to the left with flat screens on a wall with sports programming being shown. The area was large and clean as I saw a worker wiping down dirty tables and clearing the trash. The service counter was to the right where the raw food items were on refrigerated display. This section was rather tight with not much space to look up at the menu screens because some chairs were lined up next to the windows. The left menu screen displayed the combo meals. Chicken/fish/shrimp + 1 side were priced between $12.99 and $14.99. The middle screen had the chicken, fish & chips, and shrimp & chips listed as a la carte items. The right menu screen showed the appetizers, beverages, and sides. The appetizers were calamari, oysters, gizzards, and frog legs which you could get as fried products.I ordered the two piece fish, four shrimps + 1 side combo. Red snapper was my fish choice while I selected the sweet potatoes for my side. The latter was in the form of small tater tots which I thought was unique for sweet potatoes. The breading on the food was not too thick, however all the items were soggy by the time I opened up the bag and removed them to eat.All the fried fare is made to order. That was one positive attribute. The not so good was the amount of food for the price (i.e. mediocre value). Another area of needed improvement is how the items were packed for to-go orders. The way the food was wrapped and bagged caused moisture to be retained which quickly destroyed whatever crispiness that the deep fry had created. The owners should go to other mom and pop shops in the area that serve fried chicken, fish, and shrimp to observe how they place the finished products in a styrofoam container with holes punched on the lid to allow the steam to escape. Such a technique allows for the crispiness to last longer, especially if a customer has a long drive home.

I wouldn't recommend the food doesn't have flavor they need to put in some real work also the quality of fish is bad. Umm to me they are not focused on making the community happy just making money off the community. Think twice maybe three times

New fish & chicken joint in LA Mesa area. Just next to the Joan Kroc center on the corner east end across from the center. The parking is limited bit you can find some on the street behind the restaurant. Best to order ahead & come pick up. The restaurant is fresh & new. I saw them in passing on university Ave & I stopped & have been there already 3 times in the 2 weeks since they've opened. The official grand opening was 2/26/2022 which I didn't make. The customer service has been great & they're a family run business & they treat each customer with respect, kindness & a smile. And are pretty quick to make an issue right if brought to their attention. I think they'll get plenty of business in that area. A customer eating while I waited for my order began giving me his review. He stated the chicken was good juicy yet fried nicely he didn't have much to say on the macaroni salad said it tasted like Vons deli Mac. But he had no complaints otherwise. They give you options of spicy or not. The spice is good not much heat unless you're sensitive to spicy foods. The seasoning of the chicken & fish isn't salty or over cooked each time I went. Although I only tried the chicken once. I've been on a seafood craving for some time now. Red Snapper was also good although I preferred the catfish more meat. I'll try the Basa probably next visit. I'd recommend stopping through or making a trip to check out the new business & taste for yourself. There are other sides & shrimp as well as calamari. The shrimp also is on my radar. I would like to see more healthy options but you can count this as a guilty pleasure when you feel like fried is what you'd like & don't want to cook. Adalynes will be around for a while I'm sure. Another customer was telling a staff member they need to stay & don't go anywhere. Lol it's clear the la Mesa community/neighborhood are happy they've opened up.

This is my 3rd visit to this sweet spot. Each time the food has been very good, hot and fresh to order. The service is ALWAYS good. As any restaurant that serves seafood you get what you pay for and I believe that the food is worth the price. The owner is a sweetheart, kind man who is friendly and genuinely loves the food. That makes a difference. Make sure you check them out...

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered 7 pc wings and side(hush puppies) plus extra one pc fish. The wings were super small and over cooked. They charged me $4 for a tiny piece of fish that's old and dry. Worst of all it smelled funny so I threw it away. Worst hush puppies I've ever had. The chicken and hush puppies had NO flavor. Ended up throwing most of it in the garbage. Definitely one of the worst meals I've had the misfortune of paying for.

4.5 Stars, this was my first visit and I'm sure I'll go back! The Tilapia Fish & Seasoned Fries was delicious, but if you are going to offer me tartar sauce for my fish please make sure it gets in the bag ( the little things matter)!Hush puppies, delicious too but man are they small, and again if you offer me honey please make sure it gets in the bag!It has an inviting atmosphere, a nice dining area with 4 big screens on the wall, waiting area with cool chairs that you can look at the fresh fish display or watch them prepare your meal. Staff is really nice, which is a plus but be prepared for a larger than average bill for a small establishment! It doesn't mean I won't come again it just means not as offer!

I really like their food! Adalyne's does well what most foods people have strong opinions on: cole slaw and hush puppies. Coleslaw isn't gloopy, not too sweet. Hush puppies are delicious and not dry. I've had both the fried shrimp, fish and chicken and liked them all. The fried fish was fried in cornmeal which I loved. This is my second time back and it won't be the last!

Don't go here! I don't usually leave bad reviews but the food here was not edible, I'm really not sure why they would think that what they served us was OK. I know new places need some time to work things out, and usually I don't leave bad reviews when they're first opening, but this is different. We went in last night and we ordered two fish fish and four shrimp with a side. They asked us what kind of fish we wanted and we chose catfish and red snapper I'm not sure what it was but how it was prepared was atrocious! I on a scale of 1 to 10 the catfish was a three and if I could give the red snapper a negative I would. Here's a picture in as you'll see there's no fish flesh that is viewable
