The large oxtail plate was $24.99. She said it was delicious, but it had a number of small bone shards.

My favorite Jamaican spot in town. I ordered oxtail and curry chicken with rice and peas. Flavor was there for both. I preferred the curry chicken. Both dishes came with vegetables and sweet plantains. Lots of tables inside to enjoy your meal and they have Ludi!Street parking. Service was great! They also offer Ackee and salt fish everyday which is a staple. Will be back!

Walking in I instantly smelled the spices and incense wafting through the air. Oh yeah!I've been on the hunt for some bomb jerk chicken and Ackee Tree delivered in a major way! Would I love more Scotch bonnets to increase the kick, yes, but it was very very solid nonetheless.Swooped through here during lunch hours and sadly Ackee was empty. Usually not a good sign, but after eating here, I'd venture to say that people just must not know about this place. I'm also guessing that the name "Ackee Tree", isn't very telling to all of the deliciousness that awaits. While here I received some excellent customer service from Sammy, who's a part of the family that owns this establishment. We laughed and chatted about all kinds of delicious foods. Thanks to Sammy for being engaging and bringing the good vibes. We ordered the large Jerk Chicken plate, $15.50, and the large oxtail plate, $24.99. They were out of plantains, which normally comes in the combo, so they tossed us a fritter instead. Everything was delicious! The rice with peas, gandules I believe, was sooo good. It reminded me of the rice my BFAM's mother makes. The chicken was juicy, a bit spicy, and well-seasoned. The vegetable that came on the side was a mix of carrots, cabbage, broccoli, and spices. At first, I didn't think much of it, but as I continued to smash through this jerk chicken, I liked it more and more. On to the fritter...I've never had anything like it before, but it was mildly like a dense cake donut, but not as sweet; I wish I had two of them bad boys. My lady really liked her oxtail, however, there were small shards of bone all around the oxtail. Since oxtail takes some work to eat anyhow, the bone shards really made the eating experience difficult to fully enjoy. Not only did she have to eat very slowly, but several times she had to discard her bite into a napkin because there were small bones that she had missed. The only bone we had to pick with Ackee Tree, were the bones themselves. Had it not been for the bones, this would have been 5 stars all the way. Thanks to Sammy and family for serving up some seriously tasty eats. No lie, I've been wanting to go back ever since. You guys should most definitely give them a shot.Oh and shouts out to Kim R. for recommending AT, and Gary N. for posting all the jerk chicken pics. Cheers.

What a great little spot! Small restaurant with counter service, a few tables and a TV. I opted to try the jerk chicken. Very tasty, but could use a little more spice. We spoke with the chef and he said that customers were complaining that everything was too spicy so they toned it down a little. My order was served with red peas and rice (delicious), a couple of pieces of plantains and a warm cabbage and carrot side dish. Plenty of food for $14.50. Chicken was tender and moist, not dried out at all. One of my friends ordered the brownstew chicken; I loved the sauce that was served with it. Very flavorful. Another friend had the oxtail. It was fall off the bone tender and delicious. I don't live close, but if anyone has a taste for Jamaican, please give this place a try.

Great Jamaican food! Nice clean place! Quick service. My husband and I shared a Jamaica patty that was a nice pastry with savory meat inside. I had the Brownstew Chicken it was spicy but not to spicy the chicken was tender and had great flavor. It came with crunchy cabbage, rice and peas and two small plantains. My husband had the oxtail which he said was delicious. Our other friends had the jerk chicken which was slightly sweet not too much heat. Next time I would like to try the fried chicken.

Literally my favorite Caribbean cuisine spot in all of San Diego. And I've tried damn near all of them. Hands down best jerk chicken. Only reason why they got 4 out of 5 is because I like Mac and cheese. Which is literally my deciding factor

I door dashed from here for the first time because I just had amaaaazing oxtail in Florida and had such a craving. It did scratch the itch -- the fried cornbread, collard greens, and plantains were all good. But the oxtail wasn't as tender or flavorful as I was hoping, nor were the rice and peas. The mac and cheese was a little bland and just okay. The steamed cabbage, which I was looking forward to as one of my favorite accompaniments to oxtail, had a really odd and underseasoned flavor. It was a little expensive given this. It's worth a try, but now that I've tried it I'll probably try a different spot next time just to chase the craving.

Waste of Money! Ordered brown stewed chicken and it was obvious that nothing had stewed here. The sauce was barBQ like with a minimal portion thigh and drum. I added a mac N cheese and it's literally less flavorful than kraft. Deadass!Really a damn shame. I should have known soon as I realized they didn't have any patties available.

When you walk in you're greeted by cashier or chef, ordered the fried fish and jerk chicken 100% recommend both plates + collard greens. Not to mention locally black owner so that's a plus in its own.
