GOOD COFFEE, GOOD STUFF!(5 stars)Quality beans makes each sip great.- DRINKS: yums- PRICE: fair- SERVICE: excellent- AMBIANCE: small but cleanCame here on a very busy day (CCSD) where the line was out the door. Had my inpatient dog with me and it was a wait in the heat but they have a big dog bowl with cold water right out the entrance. 4 women were running the place and they ran the place well, quick, and efficient. Very impressed with their customer service and fast service. They handled that line like no other! :: ORDER ::ICED VANILLA (DECAF) LATTE - lol yup team decaf. not my first go-around with this coffee shop BUT my first time at this location. Their roasted beans are very smooth and can taste it in their drinks. Especially their hot beverages, cold ones tend to be quickly sipped and forgotten. HIGHLY RECOMMENDDOG TREAT - they had a big jar at the barista counter full of dog treats for free. I love a place that looks out for their fur customers as well. :: SERVICE ::If there is a line, worth the wait. They messed up on my order and caught it before giving it to me - they didn't do decaf and quickly remade it. Again, impressed by the service of the 3 women at the front and one in the back handling the kitchen. What makes a place is good customer service and I appreciate they acknowledge all customers regardless how busy and get the order out right in timely fashion. They even engage in a little conversation with their customers even with all the noise around them. Will def be back!Until the next review...

Achilles was my favorite spot for coffee/ breakfast in the area for the week I visited San Diego. I was intrigued by the 'Concoctions' on the menu for drinks shaken and made with cold brew. I hadn't seen anything similar on a menu prior. I ordered the Finest City and a sandwich (I believe the MT Laguna looking back at the menu online). Both were top notch and I was very satisfied with my choices. You could tell all the ingredients for the sandwich were high quality. The restaurant was very clean and service prompt. I would definitely return if ever again in the area and highly recommend!

When work brings me to the San Diego Convention Center, one of my favorite perks is getting to swing by Achilles Coffee in the Gaslamp District. This spot has quickly become my go-to for breakfast and a much-needed caffeine fix to kickstart the day.In fact, I just stopped by today and got The Warrior Breakfast, which comes with fluffy scrambled eggs mixed with cheese, a stack of three mini pancakes drizzled with a syrup that's absolutely delicious, creamy smashed avocado, and a choice between bacon or cranberry sausage. The perfect fuel for a busy day I had ahead, complemented of course by a beautifully crafted latte.I'm already looking forward to my visit tomorrow to try their breakfast burrito. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Quick and kind service. Quality of the sandwiches and coffee were both decent. Not sure if the prices were a tad high due to inflation and/or being comicon week.

It's a cute shop with good coffee. I tried the nitro, and it was good and quite strong, not the best ive had but ok. The pour over is delicious, and they have a few varieties and descriptions to help you pick. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any though The food was only ok. The breakfast burrito spinach tortilla was like a neon green. There wasn't much flavor, so the salsa that comes on the side is much needed. The salsa has a nice flavor and a little kick. I added smoked salmon on the side for $4 and got a miniscule slice, but I guess that's pretty much in line with prices around here. Definitely come for the pour over coffee. Maybe get it to go and get food elsewhere

Achilles Coffee is located in the Gaslamp on the corner of 4th and J Streets. We stopped by for coffee one morning to give it a shot. They were somewhat busy inside but it was cold outside so no one was using the outdoor seating. I really wanted this place to be my new go to coffee in the Gaslamp given their positive reviews but the coffee I received tasted burnt and I could not taste any of the cinnamon or honey that was supposedly in it. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I don't think we would go back or recommend them.

I was walking by when I saw this cute coffee shop and decided to grab a morning coffee. It was definitely a bit of a mistake. The line moved at a snails pace and it took me maybe 30 minutes to just order and still took time to get my coffee. I honestly don't know why their system is poor but it definitely needs to be adjusted. The person taking orders was also doing the pour over coffee and then there was one person doing espresso's and one prepping the drinks.I enjoyed the latte I got but not enough to ever wait in this line again. I was maybe the 5th party in line and no joke, 30 minutes to just order. The coffee definitely didn't taste as good once I got it 40-45 minutes later.

Fantastic spot. My vanilla cinnamon latte was delicious! Walked there for a coffee right before leaving San Diego and it was a great way to start the morning

The location is great, right next to the convention center. That said, it's consistently busy. The line moves pretty quick. The Achilles scramble was not great, house latte was average. Definitely better than Starbucks. Indoor tables have outlets for charging.

I don't normally leave reviews but my boyfriend and I were desperate for some coffee and breakfast and this place was perfect. Have to praise the hard work going on around here with only one barista and one cashier killing it getting out orders quick and effective, all with a friendly attitude. Great spot, great food, great service :-)
