A cute neighborhood spot that I wish I knew about sooner! AAHARN Thai has 3 locations - this University City one, Rancho Penasquitos, and Kettner. - PARKING - This location shares a parking lot with other businesses including a Sprouts and USPS. Plenty of spaces for all shops!- SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT -Definitely a neighborhood spot with the intimate seating inside. Not the biggest restaurant but it'll do the job for locals! We were seated promptly after arriving, and were welcomed warmly by the staff. Staff was very attentive throughout our entire meal, always checking in to see how we were doing and if the food was good. All the food came out pretty quickly too!- FOOD -Chicken Satay (4pc): Really thick pieces of chicken! Big portions, probably the most I've had on a Chicken Satay. Really nice flavor seasoning, and the dipping sauce was delicious. Most pieces were juicy, but maybe two were on the drier side, but still yummy with the two sauces!Fried Tofu: Really crunchy crispy tofu! The inside was still nice was spongy, and we liked the dipping sauce here as well! Pad See Ew w/ Crispy Pork Belly: One of our favorite dishes to get, and here we loved how chewy the noodles were! Most places the noodles fall apart, but here the noodles had a great texture to them. The flavoring is delicious as well, and the pork belly was quite good!Panang Curry: Another favorite of ours, and here they make the Panang a bit tangier than we've had it in the past, but it was still tasty! Good amount of protein as well! I liked dipping the Naan with this curry.Chicken Basil & Fried Egg: One of their specialty dishes, and it was packed with so much flavor!!! The egg was also cooked perfectly, with the yolk popping over it all was amazing too! Mango Sticky Rice: You can't leave without enjoying a dessert, and what more iconic than a Mango Sticky Rice?? The Mango was so sweet and so soft, and the Sticky Rice was perfectly chewy and sweet! We also enjoyed their Thai Tea and Mango Iced Tea, both were very refreshing. I'm happy they have an option to use Coconut Milk for their Thai Tea!- OVERALL -A really nice neighborhood gem to grab some delicious Thai food!!!

Yumm Yummm Yummm!Ordered the cream cheese wontons, egg rolls, chicken satay, and beef panang. All were party trays for my daughters graduation celebration. Food was excellent, tasty, and it didnt dissapoint. The food came in serving trays which was expected. Panang Beef was at heat level 1...I dont think we needed to go any higher as this always seemed to be right for the guests. All the food was good, my personal favorite was the chicken satay and peanut sauce. Enjoy and happy eating!

Kao Soi is the Bomb!So hard to order anything else once you try it.Actually this is a dangerous menu. There's a good chance you'll keep ordering whatever you ordered first and you'll totally miss out on everything else!

Really enjoyed their service and their food here! I came here around Valentine's Day and it wasn't busy. I got the pad Thai and enjoyed it as well as their chicken skewers, I think for happy hour! The inside is themed of course and quite nice and comfortable!

I love this place! So affordable and have really fair portions as well. I appreciate that they actually make the food spicy when you ask for it to be very spicy. Most places will be stingy with spice, as they are cautious of the tolerance level their customers have. Not this place! We ordered the chicken larb, panang curry, and tom yum. Everything was very flavorful, the panang curry was my favorite. The coconut is really highlighted in this dish. As for the overall vibe, it's dimly lit and provides for an intimate experience. It's kind of small inside, but still has enough tables to accommodate for big parties if needed. Definitely will be revisiting.

We ordered ahead via phone craving some Thai and this spot definitely delivered! The portions were generous for the price and the Pad Thai was packed with goodies. The food was whipped up quickly and will be back for a spicier dish (6/10 spice this time).

Service was fine but the food was bleh! My favorite food is thai food so I always love trying new thai restaurants around town. Theres not much pickins on this side of town so I chose this one but was skeptical because of the already bad reviews. Well they were right. I have never in my life tasted bland thai food. I think its because of the area but still it was weird tasting. I got the panang curry which is the most flavorful thai dish you can get and it was soooo bland. Like no salt or coconut flavor. Just curry flavor BLEH! To add, they sit the rice next to the curry in the togo tray and curry spilled all over the rice making it one big flavorless mush pile. Disappointing but not surprised. I'll take the L. 0/10 don't reccomend!

Aaharn restaurants are owned by the same owner as Koon Thai restaurant on Convoy, and Koon is considered among thai people as one of the better Thai restaurants in San Diego. So I knew I'd get good food when I came here. Food was good and it was so much more relaxing to come here than to go fight for parking at Koon. The menu is slightly smaller but it's good enough for a weekday dinner. The spicy level seemed to be more normal compared to Koon. (Koon can get very very spicy, but Aaharn is what you'd typically expect). If you want authentic Thai food, I'd recommend that you check them out. Good Thai food in a relaxing and quiet restaurant. Hard to beat.

I visited this restaurant with my husband a couple of months ago. The service was the only good part of our visit. The chicken satay was dry and chewy, as if it were cooked and then left out. My husband got the pad Thai and the noodles were all stuck together in a big, gummy clump. I ordered the Tom kha, and the mushrooms were canned. We will not be coming back.

What a great place to eat! Super convenient near our house, great service and wonderful spices. Plenty of options for everyone. You have to try the curry, it also isn't as spicy as you'd think. Really nice environment, very clean.
