Awesome little convenience store with a variety of beers to choose from and on tap as well. Plenty of parking and the staff is very friendly. Their prices are great and better than a lot of other places. It is great to have a place like this in the neighborhood still that you can swing by to grab a beer and not be paying an arm and a leg for.

Great local spot to grab a few brews. Descent little seating area out front. It's also a little liquor store with a variety of brews and beverages.

A1 is the one of the best things in Greenwood. Great beer selection (including some of the rares from the breweries around Seattle!), huge wine selection, bar area, drinks and snacks galore. You couldn't find a nicer group of people to run the business either. They've learned my name, and more importantly my dogs, and are always willing to chat a little. I'll be back again and again to support local.

The reviews ring true here - A1 Hop Shop has a ton of great beer selections, ranging from local breweries to some really unique brands. But what irked us was not the beer selection, but the way we were treated. I was enthralled by the beer selection that I spent a good 20 minutes looking for some good stouts. I ended up grabbing two 6-packs and a can of beer. My wife came from the nearby Lenny's to help me select the goods and carry them to the front of the store. The guy working there was nice and asked to see my ID, which I did. He then proceeded to ask my wife for her ID, which she didn't have on her. He was really apologetic and basically said it was required by law to see both of our ID's, as they didn't want to lose their alcohol license in the case that my wife was underaged. I get it. But as my wife was fervently looking for some way to prove her age, a woman (I'm guessing the manager or the guy's boss) came over. She basically kept saying no to me and my wife, and when my wife found her COVID vaccine card with her birthday, she rudely cut my wife off and still said no to us, that her ID must have her photo on it. I asked if I could come back another day to buy the beer by myself, and she rudely told me no, that I have to bring my wife along for her to show her ID. We basically stormed out after that, as we didn't want to deal with her attitude or rudeness anymore. So I'm basically banned now from buying beer here unless my wife can come with me to show her ID? That's dumb. In the end, I get the law. They don't want to risk their license. But the way the woman treated us was rude, condescending, and demeaning. She wouldn't let us get a word out, and she basically shooed us away. The guy was kind and apologetic, but his female counterpart (Manager? Coworker?) left a sour taste in our mouths and was 100% unpleasant to work with. Well, to whoever she is, good job. You just lost our business.

Excellent selection of beer for the unassuming size and location of this shop, including limited runs, local brews, and imports. The wine selection seems decent as well. I've had positive experiences with all of the workers (sans one blonde lady). So why two stars? Because at least every other time I visit this shop, I am charged more than I should owe. The prices listed are rarely correct; a sixer always seem to ring up for $1-3 more than its marked price. On multiple occasions, I've purchased a single and been charged instead for the full 4-/6-pack. Most foodstuffs and grocery items don't have a listed price at all. I just got charged $26 for a sixer listed at $11.99 and a pack of La Croix. What? The point-of-sale system only shows you the final total, not individual items, so it's easy to miss these errors before you pay and receipts are only provided if requested. In the two instances where I've caught this after paying but before exiting the store, I've been sheepishly told by the cashier that I will have to return the next day when a manager is available, as they were not authorized to issue refunds. :^DDDA revamp of the pricing management system and a weekend spent re-labeling is all this place needs. Unfortunately, I'm afraid they'll never do it.

I went in to buy an Elf Bar vape disposable after hitting it once it was obviously a fake vape, I scanned the QR code and it came back counterfeit. This is terrible business practice and I'm going to assume they buy them without knowing they are fake. I don't look to get my money back as it was only 21 dollars and the amount of gas used to go back outweighs the cost but it's honestly disappointing business practices. I will be filing a complaint with the LCA of WA State, my colleagues wife is on the board and I can guarantee that it will quickly become a priority as they live in the Phiney ridge neighborhood. The strawberry kiwi was bought from A1 The peach mango was bought at Reel Smoke N Vape and confirmed real by the manufacturer QR authenticity system. Notice the font and the positioning on the fake, the label easily scratches off. The flavor is absolutely disgusting, almost makes one want to go back to cigarettes. This review isn't to weaken A1 reputation but to highlight that the A1 store has the duty to provide authentic goods by law and to be honest it out right unethical.

It's been a spot of mine for years now, and I'm leaving so it's dead. It's got a vibe, at times, that makes the trans community feel unwelcome, mainly because of a customer and those who don't call him in on it. I've tried. But random folk all day. Good place.
