Went with a friend yesterday to catch up and enjoy a delicious breakfast. He chose this place, and it was not a cute experience. First of all, it was hard to get anyone's attention walking in. Whenever we did get someone they weren't very responsive with seating us and just pointed to a table. I had to ask around to find a chair (since the table was missing one) and it was just a weird seating situation. After a few minutes we placed our order and just chatted. We had to flag down someone multiple times to refill our water, repeatedly as one time they server forgot we requested a refill. When the food came to say I was disappointed was a understatement. The bacon was burnt and not good at all, the potatoes were dry and the fruit looked lackluster. Again a server never came around so I just dealt with it because I was ready to go. It just wasn't a good experience and I saw that others were feeling the same way Perhaps take out is better, but I don't think I'll ever order dine in here again with service being like that and the food being worse.

Our experience was alright. We did a pickup, so I can't comment much on the people or anything, but the place was cute when I picked it up. It had a feeling like stepping into a grandma's house. The food was ready and hot when I got there. We had the breakfast burrito and the meatloaf. They were fine. That's about the best I can say. The meatloaf was quite dry, and without the gravy I don't think I could have finished it. The flavor was pretty good though. My husband didn't really like the burrito much. It was ok, but he said it didn't have much flavor on its own. They have a large menu, so it's possible I would like some other things on it, but I'm not sure if I'd bother to go back when there are so many other places to try.

Cozy patio seating with umbrellas available for sunny days. Food was fresh and the coffee was nice and HOT. Took a little while to get our check on a busy day, but our server was kind! He kept checking on us to see if we needed the umbrellas opened for shade.

If you search enough you will find heaven. On the corner of Clark and Balmoral you will find a slice of it - in the form of a cake. This small jewel of a place has been here a long time and has changed little. This is a testament to what good small cafes know - familiarity, service and good food. The interior is a bricolage of mismatched lamps and other Americana against well worn brick walls. You can take excellent bakery items and drinks to go, or sit down and get ready for well prepared appetizers, soups, salads or main dishes that your mom or aunt used to make.We ordered the curried chicken wrap and a big slice of cake. All was good and served with a smile. The disconnect was the price : $38 with two coffees. But hey, welcome to eating out.Come on over and enjoy the real thing.

I discovered this place earlier this year and have come back many times ever since. I've tried most of the dishes on their breakfast menu and the standouts are Mike's pesto sandwich and Erica's breakfast sandwich. This place never gets brought up when it comes to quality breakfast sandwiches in this city and it is an absolute travesty! But the real star of this establishment is Rachel's Raspberry Cake. By far the best cake I have ever had. The cupcakes, scones and bread pudding are also fantastic. Great Mexican wedding cookies and lemon bars, too. Just all around stellar deserts and baked goods. Very friendly service and nice ambiance. I love the little teapot lamps they have scattered around. This is probably one of the most underrated breakfast spots in the city.

Cute very much "grandma's kitchen" style dinner! Very homey and staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so inviting and attentive. Sausage was delicious. Potatoes were a little on the dry side for me. The biscuit was sweet (I prefer a salty taste). Fruit was not the freshest...but what really interested me was the french toast! Toast was soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside. In my humble opinion, perhaps more vanilla and egg with maybe some berries on top would have really made the french toast a wonderful dish not sure if I will be back. While environment and staff were wonderful, the food may need a little work.

We came Monday night $12 dinner special. We both had the veggie stir-fry with chicken. Service was a team of three young men working together to please customers, and doing a great job. The vibe was so cute ranging from single diners reading books, groups of friends, families, and date nights. Our food was excellent, portion size was almost too much (almost). What a great neighborhood gem. This was our first dinner; we have only been for breakfast or scones which are also great.
