9th & Hennepin

Warm, fresh donuts out of a unassuming and sensible food truck. Went on a crisp, hailing Thursday morning. We got one of each to sample. The menu was inspired and playful--you can tell Justin takes care each week to craft new flavors and textures. This week was a nod to the upcoming Lunar New Year: the Spice Cake Donut was reminiscent of a dimsum taro pastry while the Honey Cake Bar was of you tiao or niu li su. The other two donuts were good but the cake ones were other-wordly. The cake was impossibly moist but had a crackly, caramelized crust. The glazes light but poignant. On top of quality, the donuts are super affordable.

Who doesn't love a fresh, warm donut? Not anyone, I say. And if by chance donuts are not your jam, you should definitely pre-order and try 9th & Hennepin because they'll probably change your mind.We've had it on our Yelp hit list for a while, and it didn't disappoint. It's at least a 4 out of 5 star rating and would recommend in a heart beat. The staff was friendly and you can tell by their customer interaction that they have a lot of regulars. Also, they rotate their online menu and I appreciate their unique flavor combinations. We tried the following: -- Ricotta Cake donut with Roasted pears, fresh Thyme sugar-- Espresso flavored cake donuts with spiced condensed milk glaze-- Filled brioche cranberry curd, with apricot ginger glaze-- Honey roasted rhubarb fritter, grand marnier glazeWe couldn't eat the donuts right away because we were on our way somewhere. However, I couldn't handle waiting and the amazing smell permeating the car got to me, even to the point where I asked...(maybe demanded)...that we pull over and devour them one by one in front of a random yoga studio. Really like that their donuts aren't too sweet, and they all had nice, subtle flavors. My two repeat donuts would definitely be the honey roasted rhubarb fritter and Ricotta Cake donut with Roasted pears and fresh Thyme sugar. One word: Yum!

Extremely fresh baked doughnuts. They were very creative and thought out flavors. Much better than your standard doughnut shop. They have 4 weekly flavors. There is a service window, that you place and pick up at. Wasn't much of a wait but next time I would preorder online. Friendly staff. I would come back to try more flavors.

These donuts are amazing!Hot. Fresh! Delicious!The way fried pastry is ment to be.There is always a GF option.They taste liked they look, no false advertising here.This is long overdue, I have no idea how I missed recommending this place immediately after my first bite. Shame on me.Go.

I've been a fan of 9th & Hennepin from way back (when they were a stall at the University District Farmer's Market - pre-covid!). They are far from your standard donut place for a few reasons: 1) The donuts are freshly fried right before you consume them! It's really hard to beat a donut freshly fried! But because of this, you will need to preorder. Sometimes they have some available for walk-up but best to pre-order to be sure. 2) The flavor combos are super unique - you won't find your average glazed donut or maple bar here. Instead, you'll find unique glazes and fillings, focusing on local farmers and some unique combos that sound strange but are so good! For example: chocolate sour cream cake donut w/ cold brew glaze or elderflower pear fritter w/ chamomile glaze.Each week a new menu is posted on Instagram featuring 4 donuts, so be sure to give them a follow! Pick-up for now is in West Seattle (Delridge) but he is doing a few pop-ups here and there (again, follow on IG). There are usually 2 cake donuts, 1 fritter, and 1 filled brioche donut (or similar combo). Typically, my favorites are the cake donuts but I have been surprised by the fritters too. My one minor complaint about the brioche ones are that the filling could be more generous. These are best eaten within a few hours for the best texture/experience.

This is the second time I've gotten 9th and Hennepin's donuts on a weekend morning and I can sense this quickly becoming a new weekend ritual! The donuts are creative and incredibly delicious, I'm looking forward to seeing what flavors are coming out every week (check the website of the same name) and they are served hot and fresh - truly a decadent experience. The service is also wonderful, always kind and friendly. If you're looking for a weekend morning treat, definitely check out this gem!!

Donuts and Tom Waits' music are two of my favorite things, so 9th and Hennepin has been on my must-try list for a while. After a failed attempt to visit his shop in Delridge (it was closed), it was awesome having the chance to visit his truck in Ballard this morning. Donuts were fresh and pretty yummy. Flavors were unique and not over-powering. Southern California still has the best donuts of anywhere I've tried, but 9th and Hennepin is a close second.

These are by far the best donuts I've ever had! Super creative and innovative menu of flavors!

Food: what's not to love? Hot and fresh donuts made to order, hell yes.My boyfriend ordered them through their app, and schedule it for a pick up. Quick and efficient, perfect for any introvert who panic orders.

Found this donut truck a couple weeks ago. I will be here at Arcade Plaza every Thursday! They are fresh, hot and fluffy. See ya next Thursday.
