This new spot is a super chic, elegant yet fun new sushi spot. Vibe is exceptional, and the service and food are spot on...it's on the pricey side, but that's fine as long as the experience matches the price. And in a city where good sushi is not an easy find, 888 serves up some delicious and innovative takes on standard sushi fare. All in all, a great addition to the downtown scene. Highly recommended! PS: The only negative was poor service at the hotel valet stand (they took our ticket and forgot to get the car until I asked 30 mins later) but that has nothing to do with the restaurant, so not factored into this review.

#fatjared say...Really REALLY sad to give 4 stars here, but I have to. My overall message is that this place is AMAZING!!! 4.99 out of 5 and it's worth every penny!Since day 1 I have not faltered, nor will I ever with my reviews. 5 stars on Yelp is perfect, therefore you must be perfect to get a 5 star review. 888, I had 1 very small complaint, which means it was not a perfect meal.I specifically chose this place because it was in an amazing area, it was hot and new, the menu looked awesome, and my wife loves asian food. Nothing disappointed. We sat at the bar, staff was friendly, everything was intentional, the DJ was a champion and having a blast, and our server knew a lot about the place. Plus the GM has an epic mullett! We ordered, the Sake Su roll, 2 different sashimis, wagyu katsu, crab udon, and macha crepe cake.I will start with my 1 and only VERY SMALL complaint, that might not even be 888's fault. We had a small piece of a bone in our sushi. I think it was a remnant of a bone from the tuna filling. I hate to say it, but it was true. I think if I come back 49 more times I never have it happen, but this time it did. I will spare a full review of every dish, but I will say that every single one was so good that it could fill a review in an of itself. Authentic, fresh, unique, tasty, balanced, accurately priced, everything you want in a dish.I will add one more thing though, the wagyu katsu was maybe one of the best bites of food I have had in the past 5 years! I could truly become my former fat self off that dish!Overall, I look forward to coming back and visiting again because it was that good! Thanks for an amazing night 888!!

A DEFINITE COMEBACK!!1. Please take a rideshare to 800 Clark. Tell your driver it's on the corner of 8th and Clark. On the JW hotel building!2. Make a reservation! It wouldn't hurt!3. They have a lot of shareable dishes.4. THE MUSIC IS THE BOMB!!!!5. This is a fusion of Japanese and soul food. That fried rice was more like barbecue rice! Very good! I ate the signature sushi roll that was wrapped in cucumber. That was so delicious!5. Get the Japanese old fashioned with the Japanese whiskey in it. Apparently, my table loved it and kept ordering it!6. Check out the schedule for the music tribute they're going to have prior to coming! I came at the end of Stevie Wonder!

Drinks and service was amazing! 10/10! If you ever happen upon this spot ask for Abigail as your server! She contributed to the experience we had greatly. I took my bf here for his birthday and noted that in the reservation and the 888 team personalized a note at our table! It was so cool. Vinyls were spinning all night and the dessert was impeccable as well! Will be back to try the food. It's around the corner from the JW Marriot main entrance. You'll see a bouncer and a red light above the door. There's also free valet for about 3 hours I believe....

So the atmosphere I would rate 4 if you're looking for a hip, trendy bar. Service is a 5. All the wait staff was super attentive and great service. The place is a new concept at the JW Marriott. The food however if you're looking for Japanese food, you could do better elsewhere for the price. I would rate it 2It's an interesting twist of sushi rolls and other dishes but know that it's a fusion/interpreted version of sushi. The friend chicken has too much breading and on the salty side. Not a problem if your generally palate is more southern, but for out of towners, this is more a TN style friend chicken than Japanese karaage. For the sushi interpretation, it was a cucumber wrap which was creative and thin. Due to the lack of flavoring in the crab, it was definitely a contrast from the salty fried chicken!Note, the entrance is quite nondescript and GPS also is not great at leading you there. Even though I was staying at the JWM, i walked by the corner door several times.

What an amazing experience! I actually went twice in one week. The service and hospitality was 10/10 enough to bring you back! The first night was just for drinks at the bar, which were phenomenal Matcha Mezcal Sour was 10/10! The bartender went down the list of drinks and gave his favorites.. but if you enjoy mezcal and matcha definitely get Matcha Mezcal Sour, it's the drink for you. That night we went was also Mac Miller night so the vinyl/music played was dedicated to him. The second night was for dinner and we opted in for the Miyabi, it's a shareable plate option and 10000% worth the $95 per person because you get to try all the top plates on the menu.Everything was so delicious, tempura asparagus, chicken karaage, sushi, fried rice (+more) and the cute dessert!Make a reservation because they do get busy but sitting at the bar is also an option! It's also really incognito so look for the red light peeping out the doors

Fish is fresh but I don't think it's consistent. The tuna tartar was overly salted and served in some kind of a repurposed sardine can.Ambiance is good, sexy and good music.Service is a bit slow, even on an early dinnerOverall overpriced for what you get- there are better options in Nashville.

Food was incredible! I think this was my first experience where the sushi melted in my mouth. The hot chicken and green bean appetizers were amazing and unique. The fried rice is great to feed 2 to 3 people and at good price- only critic here is it was very low on the chicken and edamame protein- so I'd love to see more of that. The DJ slinging vinyls was truly a VIBE. Already planning to come back and bring friends!

This place is a vibe! We happened to drop in before their grand opening but already get the sense that this will be a popular venue both for the service and ambiance, but also for the food.... And the vinyl! Coming from California, finding a more traditional sushi bar feels like a find in Nashville and we were pleasantly surprised by the combination of elements in addition to the sushi bar experience. We will most certainly be back.
