Stayed at the hotel. Spent two days pool side. Review is only for pool restaurant menu. Scallop ceviche - flavor is present, but very small serving. Wings- Buffalo with Valentina hot sauce. Good, nice size and crispy outside. Good flavor, not too spicy, will be good for most tolerances.Shrimp cocktail- Don't order, very small served in a in a bowl, definitely NOT like a typical Mexican shrimp cocktail,Burgers and fries- all decent. Their gluten-free bun option was good (doesn't fall apart like others).Corn and Weiss dip- Okay, noting standout. But does come with an option or chips or chicharrones, or half and half.Service friendly, but very slow. It's busy during daytime pool hours.,

I finally had a chance to visit this place after walking by so many times before. It's the Margaritaville rooftop pool bar on the 4th floor which can be accessed via stairs or an elevator from the main restaurant. I did really like the layout and ambiance, it boasts a large bar and seating/lounge area with cabanas in the pool area. The pool itself was a little smaller than I imagined but is good for cooling off and sippin cocktails. It also appears that regular patrons (non-hotel guests) are also able to use the pool. On this particular day there was a DJ, creating a fun pool party-like atmosphere. I also appreciated the games such as giant jenga and corn hole (note that you have to give your ID at the bar to get the bean bags). The reason for giving 4 starts was my experience with the customer service. I realize it may have been busier than usual but I would expect more attentive service especially on a money-making weekend such as 4th of July. We were told it was open seating and either a waitress would come to us or we could order at the bar. We sat at a couch and during the 5 minutes we were there, numerous waitresses walked right by us without saying a word. We ended up going to the bar to order and despite having 5 or 6 people working behind the bar, didn't receive a greeting or acknowledgement for quite a while. We finally got our drinks which included a land shark beer and the Texan Conga cocktail, both were pretty mediocre. However the cocktail prices were decent compared to the rest of downtown. Upon leaving, the hostess seemed too intrigued by her phone to bid us adieu. In all, I did like this place mostly for the ambiance but they could step up their customer service.

We stayed at Margaritaville and loved 5 o'clock Somewhere! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I loved the carnitas tacos and got them twice while we were there. The dip player was a perfect poolside snack and the shrimp cocktail was not quite what we expected but delicious! There were no home games while we were there but I'm sure it would be a hot spot during games.

5 O'Clock Somewhere is the rooftop (4th floor) bar at the Margaritaville Hotel in the Gaslamp. We were staying at the hotel for Padres home opener. We Visited the bar mainly to check out the pool area. The area is huge and features a very large outdoor heated pool. It was a relatively cool couple of days while we were there, but that did not deter a lot of folks from jumping in. Not sure what the temperature is kept at, but it did look inviting, although we did not partake. There is no hot tub/Jacuzzi.A few cabanas next to the pool could be reserved for an additional charge. The bar itself is quite large with plenty of seating. There are also a bunch of tables for additional seating. Behind the bar is a ping pong table. Giant Jenga and cornhole were other games that were available at no charge. We only had a couple of drinks, we did not sample any of the food offerings. 5 O'Clock shares a menu (limited version) with LandShark, the ground floor restaurant. As far as hotel pool areas go, 5 O'Clock Somewhere is one of the better ones we've encountered. A hot tub would be a welcome addition.

This place has summertime Margaritaville vibes from the moment you enter the elevator that takes you straight to the 4th floor. The rooftop gives a great view and you can catch some of the action at Petco Park especially around game time. Drinks are divine. Watermelon lemonade is a sweet treat. Brett is an AMAZING bartender so snag a seat at the bar then head to the elevated lounge area for city & pool views. Don't miss the mushroom tacos. Can't wait for my next trip back to SD.

We came here a lot on the 4th floor of the margaritaville hotel because we stayed here. But I definitely think it's worth coming for the food, drinks, and ambiance. On Sunday, they have brunch and it is across very delicious! I thanked the manager and he said we were only the 2nd customers to get their new brunch and gave us a coupon. We also enjoyed the live music which was mostly chill reggae music. They were awesome! They have ping pong and jenga here as well. They have lots of seating and heat lamps. So you can come for just drinks or even for food. The pool is nice and warmed up as well. It's a great place to come to relax!

It was well past 5 o'clock but before sunset when I visited the rooftop bar at the Margaritaville Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter. This establishment was located on the fourth level of the property. It was one of the largest pool areas I have seen for a rooftop venue in downtown. There were plenty of lounge chairs, tables, and cabanas. Impressive giant life-like parrots were painted as murals on two walls of the building, one facing south and the other facing west. The semi-circular bar had about a dozen seats and was located towards the southwest corner. Six appetizers, two salads, three burgers, two tacos, and a key lime pie made up the food menu. Ten different specialty cocktails along with beer and wine by the glass were the alcoholic beverage offerings. I picked the namesake 5 O'Clock Burger for my meal. A 6 oz patty was cooked medium as I requested and topped with black forest ham, American cheese, a fried egg, and mayo on a brioche bun. The ham and egg added extra heft to the burger. A side of french fries came with the order.Apparently, there was also a show stage featuring live entertainment... music, magic, comedy, etc. I didn't notice it during my visit because nothing was on the schedule. The Gaslamp has numerous choices if you want a panoramic view of the city from several floors above ground. I would bet that the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Rooftop Bar is a little known option to many locals and visitors alike. The tropical atmosphere was very laid back, and with so much space to spread out, you won't feel crowded at all.

Nice rooftop with a small pool, bar and seating. Took forever to place an order looked like only one person walking around. I had to go up to him to place an order. Bar was busy but got drinks fast. Food was good just expensive.

You can definitely chill on island time at the 5 o'clock Somewhere Bar in Downtown San Diego! This bar is located on the roof top of the Margaritaville Hotel and you DO NOT have to be a guest to come here. You will need to use their elevator on the corner of sixth avenue to go up to the rooftop bar (you can't miss it!)We arrived around noon just to avoid any or all of the pre-baseball game crowds and we pretty much had the place to ourselves! The vibe was right, music was chill, ambiance felt like you are at a resort! Our server, Lincoln was amazing and funny! He took very good care of us. The food tasted pretty good. My husband and I had chips and dip plus a poolside burger :) Drinks were decent. We will come back :)
