The food was fresh and full of flavor. I had Chopped Steak and this is probably one of my new favorites due to how fresh, fast, and good it all tasted. The service was great and the restaurant is very clean. The menu is huge and they have lunch specials everyday 11am-2pm. Lastly they serve both soul and jerk outside of fast food and a nice perk is the BYOB. Be sure to try them out for a break at lunch or a first date.

This place was alright. I'm giving it three stars for three specific reasons.The interior was clean and bright. That's our first star. Everything was sparkling and beautiful, though it was completely empty (always a warning sign for me). Despite this, service took way too long. The people in the kitchen didn't seem to know what's in all of the combos on the menu, so getting a combination tray (of food that was already prepared) just took too long for how easy it should have been. Everyone in the restaurant was personable though, very chatty and happy to help. That's our second star.My food was just ok. The chicken I ordered was totally falling off the bone and didn't have a lot of flavor. The sweet potatoes were delicious, though very sweet. The cornbread dressing was not the best that I've had, but was definitely a highlight of the meal. The egg roll was... interesting to say the least. First of all, it was soggy instead of crispy. When I bit into it, the flavor was just too much. Not balanced at all. I've never had a jerk chicken egg roll before, but I don't think these are the gold standard. Overall, the food gets a star for having some good elements.One thing that I noticed when looking through other reviews of this place, was that the negative reviews all have retorts from the owner. Not just responses -- retorts. Ones that essentially tell the customer that they're experience is wrong and invalid. I'm not sure that I like when a restaurant feels the need to get all defensive about their food when people don't like it.My opinion is that there are so many other places to get jerk chicken and soul food in Chicago that there is no real reason to bother with "3 Kings Jerk and Soul."
