Skip the party platter and order the Nigiri flights (Salmon or Tuna), or their other rolls. 312 Fish Market nigiri and sushi is really good and the fish is buttery and fresh. But the party platter we ordered (tuna) felt like it was prepared a long time ago and the fish wasn't nicely cut/fell off the rice. Location is a bit odd since it's in the food court of an Asian grocery store (2nd floor up the escalators), but since it is in the market, they allow you to BYOB! If you have a larger group, you might actually be sitting next to the grocery store, but smaller groups can definitely fit in the seating area or bar area of the small restaurant. The price is also very inexpensive for such great sushi compared to other sushi spots in Chicago so if you come hungry, you actually won't break the bank. Most definitely will be returning if I'm in Chicago.

I frequently order delivery from 312 (maybe the employees might even recognize my name haha). Probably one of the best sushi places in town. Salmon Don: My FAVORITE Don in town and in the store. The salmon pieces are always fresh and go great with the radishes. The charcoal salt adds a great flavor to the don, which makes it not plain, and a hint of smoky taste to it. Everything pair well with the sushi rice. 312 sushi rice is amazing as well. Definitely recommend this over the other donburi. Definitely worth the price. Maguro Don: The tuna pieces are fresh, but this don did not hit me the same way as the salmon one (maybe I prefer salmon over tuna?). Chiraishi Deluxe: this was the first bowl I tried from 312, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other two. The fishes are fresh, but it not as flavorful as the other ones since it doesn't come with the charcoal salt. Kind of disappointed and I personally think it is not worth the price. Ika and Tako Salad: my favorite squid and octopus salad based on the restaurants I have tried in town. It is not overly salty or oily. All ingredients are well seasoned and marinated. It is a great starter. And I personally think it goes well the donburi. Smoke salmon: love this nigiri/sashimi piece. I like as a nigiri over sashimi because it can be a bit salty without the rice. This is my must order piece. Spiced Salmon: Another my favorite piece and it is hard to find in other stores. It is greatly seasoned and it is not overly salty. Similarly, I think it is great for nigiri. Zuke Salmon: not bad, but not the best marinated salmon I had in town. To me, I think it is not marinated enough and not as flavorful as it can/should as I prefer to be like. Hotate: love this nigiri piece, the scallop is fresh and flavorful. I think this seared piece is a great option for people seeking for alternative for raw food. Kampyo Hoso Maki: their Kampyo is well seasoned and cooked. It still got the crunchy texture that I like, which makes it a great maki roll for me. It is not salty. Maybe sometimes the rice portion is a lot compared the Kampyo (depends on the chief I guess?) Shiitake Mushrooms Hoso Maki: Another of my favorite roll, the mushroom is greatly seasoned. Similar issue as the kampyo, sometimes the rice portion is greater than the mushrooms. Negi Toro Hoso Maki: Love this roll, it is not salty, but still flavorful. Smoked Salmon Hoso Maki: the salmon is fresh, but I prefer to have the smoked salmon as a nigiri piece to fully taste the flavor and texture of the smoked salmon (personal preference)Overall, I think the quality 312 is great. The consistency ( food portion and condiments and sauces) needs to be worked on. I was once given with no ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. I worked love to visit the store in the future to feel the store vibe and a better display of the food.

Despite its unconventional location, this place serves some of the best sushi I've ever had. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and each piece was expertly crafted. However, the ambiance is something to be aware of. The restaurant feels more like a food court than a traditional sushi bar. The seating area is basic, and there's a constant flow of people from the surrounding shops, which can be a bit distracting. But the staff makes a good effort to make sure your food is out promptly and with a smile!Despite the lackluster atmosphere, the food more than makes up for it. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you're a sushi lover who values taste over setting, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for a no-frills dining experience.

This is my favorite sushi spot in IL, I wish we lived closer. The quality of the fish is amazing, especially for the cost, making it an incredible value. This time around we ordered the salmon paradise platter and I would recommend it to anyone. Perfect size to split between two people with a good appetite. My only critique would have to be with the ambiance, because you're in a grocery store it's not that "picturesque", and it can get quite noisy but if you're here to eat like me; it shouldn't matter!

Ordered the maki party tray online for pickup at a set time later that day. It was easy to order and when I arrived at the food stall inside 88 Marketplace to pickup, my order was ready. They had a bag with ginger, Wasabi and soy sauce packets and chopsticks all set. The sushi was well made and the rice was perfectly soft and flavored. Not overly excessive rice for the size of the rolls. The fillings inside the rolls were well made as well. Overall a good experience trying the makis here. Will come again to try the nigiri and other items.

312 fish market is one of my top favorite for fresh and good sushi in the city. It's a gem inside a shopping market near Chinatown. Because it's inside of the food court, you can order from them and other restaurants and get to different food if desired. My go to is sashimi and nigiri and I always get salmon belly, ikura, scallops and sometimes uni when they're in season. They also have a great selection of tasty appetizers. It's Always a pleasure to order from them cause they never disappoint.

I got the master maki and a spicy salmon temaki. This is one of the top 3 spots for sushi in Chicago! The sushi set is not only a great deal but also delicious with fresh fish and a good variety of options. It's great for sharing! The temaki was also fresh and the perfect way to finish off the meal, it's also a good option if you don't necessarily want/need a set. The restaurant is set next to the supermarket but that doesn't mean it sacrifices in the atmosphere or service in any way. The free parking is a great bonus too. Highly recommend!

Their orders come quickly through delivery and the quality of everything is good. Their nigiri are high quality and the chirashi bowl always comes with a good selection of fish.

Recommended highly by the owner of Paulie Gees, I absolutely had to try this place! It's so lovely as the eating area is quite large and really beautifully decorated. The proximity to the actual grocery area makes the stall seem much larger than it is, but it also gives you time to make your shopping list. The sushi and appetizers all came out at a steady pace, and my party was really grateful for the large format trays since we had a hard time deciding on everything we wanted.Besides the large format options, there are omakase style flights and the tuna flight was absolutely out of this world. They also had uni which is my absolute favorite. All staff that we interacted with was super sweet and I really can't wait to come back.

I had time to kill in Chicago between train and plane, and ubered to the well-recommended 312. Don't be fooled if it is not that easy to find; Excellent sushi, amazingly fresh and varied --and my standards were set by living awhile in Japan. I kept thinking,'This is Chicago, right? On the Great Lakes?'Folks were very attentive without hovering - which induced me to tip well. The fact that is in a food court setting in the largest single indoor Asian market I remember seeing since Hong Kong ought not to deter customers; you lose the sense of that by sitting towards the back or at the sushi bar. This is a rare 5 stars for me, based on this single experience. Tondemonai!
