Wow! Ordered the classic Hainam chicken rice here (with a Vietnamese coffee latte) and was blown away by the light yet complementary flavors. The chicken is super tender and umami. The sauces are all delicious as well. Self service, food comes out very quickly.

Ooooh just a little disappointed with this place. The food looks better than it tastes. The chicken was cold, not hot at all so it really didn't feel like we were getting good quality chicken. It was still tasty but it definitely would have been better if it didn't come out lukewarm. Atmosphere felt a bit dirty too. It's a small food court in a basement, and everything felt a little dingy. Service is fine, just a counter with someone taking your order. Nothing spectacular, but I've had much better hainam chicken elsewhere!

I'm a noodle gal and I approve of these noodles. For anyone Vietnamese, this is similar to Bun Thanh. The chicken soup was so clean and smooth. The sauces: chili sambal sauce, soy sauce, and grated ginger went well with the refreshing soup. Also got the rocket shrimp and they were delicious! I got this along with J's potato noodles (my previous review) and they were both a bit expensive, but I think everything's pricey. The low key food court is a hidden gem for sure, could work on the cleanliness, but maybe that's the charm :) would go back for sure!! Keep it up

This is another of the many restaurant choices in Chinatown's Richland Center underground food hall. The food here is very solid, but a bit pricey for the portion size. I got the classic Hainam Chicken Rice, which contained poached chicken, rice, some sauce, a small soup, and 3 slices of cucumber. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the rice texture was pleasant. The sauces and ginger mash enhanced the flavor to the chicken and rice-- it was also good when dipped into the soup. The portions are kind of small though with a skewed rice-to-other ingredient ratio. For ~$13 per portion, it's not very filling on its own, but for a lot of rice and excellently cooked chicken, the overall value is fine. The menu is pretty small and specialized, so I'd be interested in trying the other items on there in the future, like the fried chicken version of the same dish, or the noodle version.-- Price (relative to peers): 4/5Food: 4.4/5Ambience (food court): 4/5Service: N/AOverall Value: 4.2/5

I'm not usually a fan of hainanese chicken, but this place definitely changed my mind! It's located in the basement of the mall on the east side of Chinatown square. It's pretty unassuming, but what you'll find is a food court with a ton of different options to choose from. Seating in the food court area is a bit dingy, but you come to Chinatown for the food, not the exceptional service or decor.Everything is self-service here. You'll just order at the kiosk and pay there, too. Ordered two x-larges my most recent visit for my brother and I and totaled to about $40. Definitely not the cheapest, but what is these days???! At any rate, the meal comes with a side of soup that's a very clean stock with green onions tossed in to cut through some of the chicken fat. Excellent to drink between bites.Chicken itself is super juicy and comes with a sambal/chili sauce, soy sauce, and a sort of ginger/garlic minced paste. So pretty traditional in its serving. The rice is nice though maybe a bit on the mushy side. But really the star of the show really is the chicken and how well all the sauces compliment it. Overall, it's a great place for a pretty low key lunch. Also, don't forget to bus your own table so the next person can enjoy their meal!!

Neat corner shop in the basement of an old shopping center in Chinatown.ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 8/10Quaint little place that you order from and eat in a large food court area. It's nothing impressive, but gives and old timey vibe that I enjoy.SERVICE: 9/10Staff is very nice and food comes out very fast. My order was out in less than 5 minutes.FOOD: 9/10Hainanese Chicken Rice - 9/10 - True to the restaurant's name, their specialty dish is this chicken rice dish. Chicken is cooked to a very tender texture without any dryness and laid perfectly over a bed of rice. It comes with 3 sauces as well, surprise, surprise! A spicy sauce, soy vinegar sauce and a ginger sauce. Chicken Soup - 8/10 - Broth that the chicken was likely cooked in/from. It's soupy and watery, but it does taste good.VALUE: 7/10For less than $15 you get a pretty complete meal which is a good deal.PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 9/10TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Yes, please try it!OVERALL: 9/10

Yum! I had the Hainam Chicken Rice meal and was delicious and I was very satisfied. It comes with 3 sauces: ginger, soy and sambal. The taste and quality is superb and had the just about right amount of chicken and rice. The restaurant kiosk is located at the Richland Center Food Court and you can order via the automated machine and they will call your number when it is ready. The food hall has plenty of seats to dine in.

The food stall is in the basement of what looks to be an old shopping center. It doesn't look like much from the outside but when you go downstairs there's at least half a dozen food stalls and a barber. The chicken dish comes with chicken, rice, a couple dipping sauces and soup. The chicken broth soup was so delicious. Simple but clean tasting. The chicken was juicy and flavorful even though it doesn't look like much. The food comes out pretty quickly.

Taste: 4Creativity/Authenticity: 4Atmosphere: 3Service: 4Bang for your buck: 4It's sad that the hainanese chicken spot by me closed and I stumbled upon this gem in a somewhat out of place underground garage food hall. The chicken and rice here is legit! Perfectly cooked and the rice oh man fire!! 3 sauces perfectly paired with the best hainanese chicken I've had since Singapore and in Chicago?! Also got the some dumplings but the main show is the chicken. Service was easy and fast with the tablet setup thanks for the delicious meal

I've ordered the 3 Sauces Hainam chicken several times and it was amazing with or without the soup om the side. This time, the chicken was not good quality. It wasn't tender, and the rice was dry. I tried to eat it and lost my appetite. .The fried shrimp were good. You can't mess that up. I didn't think you could mess of 3 sauce chicken and rice but they somehow did. This was during lunch hour so it had no reason the be stale.I can't risk paying to have a bad meal there anymore unless they promise my next will be good.
