Fun spot to drink with friends but food was just ok. The ambience in 3 amigos is a bit confused but the large bar and ever-present music make it the perfect place to hang out with your friends for drinks and some food. I, however, did not try any drinks upon my recent visit and only sampled the cuisine which was overall, lackluster. When you arrive, you get free and fresh tortilla chips with a salsa verde and a salsa roja that honestly tasted jarred. Then I ordered some queso dip which oddly came with garlic bread. It was quite delicious and had the consistency of stretchy mozzarella rather than the sauce-like consistency of your typical queso blanco dip. Then I got the taquitos and the chicken fajitas. The taquitos were just ok, and reminded me of something you'd get at Applebees. The fajitas, however, were delicious! I was disappointed they didn't come with sour cream and the lettuce served with it was covered in vinegar. Overall, I'd come back for drinks and light bites or fajitas but you can probably find better Mexican food in the area. Ambience: 4/5Food: 3/5Service: 4/5

experience 1: Came in quickly for the murder mystery pub crawl and got a beer. Service was quick at the bar. experience 2: Came for dinner and was sat in a booth. Ordered cocktails and nachos with guac. Cocktails were all super sweet and my order was wrong (nachos and guac, which is a difference of $8 and essentially 2 plates of chips). When I said it was wrong to the person who brought the food, they just walked away, and then no one came near our table for over 20 minutes, not even waiving distance. When I said it again when the server took our plates away, she did not respond and left our bill with that included. I took the excess cost out of the tip. All that being said, the nachos and guac were good, but it still was not what we ordered.

A few weeks back, my fiancé and I, in the spirit of culinary adventure, decided to try out 3 Amigos Bar & Grill, a new Mexican joint tucked away in a cozy neighborhood. Its exterior was as inviting as a Hallmark holiday movie, promising a mix of authentic and modern Mexican vibes.First impressions were on point: the service was snappier than a stand-up comedian, and the cutlery was charming in a "these-forks-have-personality" kind of way. I mean, who doesn't like cutlery with a bit of zest? The plating? Absolutely Instagrammable. We went full throttle on the menu, ordering Guacamole, Shrimp Ceviche, a Carne Asada plate, Chorizo Enchilada, and a Flan for dessert. A real 'United Nations of Mexican Cuisine' situation. I've been around the California-Mexican block, so I was all set to put my taste buds to the test. The Salsa and Chips were like the opening act of a concert, decent, getting the crowd (aka our stomachs) warmed up. But boy, the headliners did not live up to the hype. It was like expecting a Beyoncé concert and getting a performance by a Beyoncé tribute act instead. While nothing was bad per se, the Guac and Ceviche lacked the punch of a Mexican wrestling champ, and the Carne Asada felt like it was on a flavor diet. My fiancé's Chorizo Enchilada, which decided to go all chunky instead of the classic ground style, was also missing a spicy kick. Even the Flan seemed to be having an identity crisis. Not bad, but also like it was unsure about its place in the world of Mexican desserts. All in all, I would call 3 Amigos the 'diet soda' of Mexican eateries. Not as bold as the full-fat version, but hey, it could be a good gateway for those easing into the world of Mexican cuisine. If your palette is more 'salt-and-pepper sitcom' than 'jalapeno action-thriller,' this might just be your spot. Will I go back? I'm a firm believer in second chances. Maybe it was an off day, maybe they were trying a new recipe, who knows? I'm willing to brave it one more time. Here's hoping my taste buds get the Mexican fiesta they've been craving.

I'm originally from Boston, but I live in Texas now. In my opinion, you pretty much won't get better Mexican food in Texas. California, and the southwest also have good (authentic) Mexican food as well. So going to a Mexican restaurant is never on my radar when visiting the northeast. My friend suggested this place and I decided to go ahead and try it. Again in my opinion considering what I am exposed to living in Texas, this place isn't what I would call authentic Mexican. However, it was very good! I really enjoyed the taste of the items I got.I was able to substitute three alcohol in my drink as well as make a substitution with my food. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We went early for a late lunch, but the atmosphere seemed cool. It was fairly quiet when we went but again it was lunch and since I was visiting from out of town we stayed there to drink at little and catch up.I look forward to coming back when I am in the area again this summer.

I came here for a friend's birthday recently. She really liked this spot from living in the area in the past and wanted something low key for her birthday. This is really ideal for that. It wasn't packed, even though we had a reservation we didn't need one. All the food I tried was pretty good too:- shrimp tacos: shrimp were perfectly cooked and really different to have shrimp tacos served with bacon. Lots of flavor- fish tacos: LOVED these. The fish was light and crispy and flaky. One of my favorite fish tacos. All the tacos were served with sides. I had a small salad with rice and beans. Those were fine. - churros: incredibly light and airy. They felt guilt free. They're not but they felt like it. - Flan: this was just fine for me. I could've skipped it. Overall, I'd go back here. The prices were decent. Low key environment and good food!

Premo patio dining in the heart of Malden! 3 Amigos has super solid drinks and food, and you can't beat the location. I especially enjoyed my Strawberry Basil margarita, which was made with strawberry puree, tasted very fresh, and was reasonably priced. The guac was also tasty, with big chunks of tomato which gave it a nice texture and added freshness. My partner got the short rib tacos, which he described as okay but not mindblowing. I enjoyed my seared tuna & pineapple salad which had a good amount of tuna, grilled pineapple, and avocado over greens with soy ginger dressing & spicy mayo. Not a dish you'd typically expect to see at a Mexican resturant, and they did it well!Service was very good - friendly and attentive. And the outdoor seating is a huge plus. Make 3 Amigos one of your amigos, and come hang out!

I used to venture here almost every Tuesday for tacos when I lived in the area and they'd never disappoint. I came here for my birthday recently, which was on a Tuesday, because I was craving the fried fish and shrimp tacos and I also ordered the braised short rib taco. Everything tasted just like I remembered them- delicioso! Of course this was all to share because no way could I eat 6 tacos and sides on my own. Got a side of corn and plantain as well. I love fried plantain but I'm not sure how I felt about salt being added to it as a finisher.Prices haven't really increased much on tacos since 3 years ago but I did notice they no longer do the half off special on tacos on a Tuesday anymore which is a huge bummer. I guess that's why there wasn't much of a crowd when I went because I had made a reservation just incase since I know of it always being super busy on a Tuesday but I guess that was before the pandemic. The churros are one of the best I've had. Crispy and very light + airy. The flan was also good. The ambience was just how I liked it on my birthday and the food hit the spot.

Came here on a whim, a random suggestion, posed by my wife. It's closer to home than our usual Mexican restaurant, so we gave it a try. Straight away I liked the look of the place, and when I asked the waitress about the size of the shrimp in the shrimp tacos and she pulled out her app and showed me a picture of their shrimp tacos. They looked BEAUTIFUL! Large and plump with the grill marks. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and we also tried the birria tacos, a chicken burrito, and the fish tacos. While I can only speak to the taste of the shrimp tacos and my wife's fish tacos, all at my table raved about the quality of the food. My wife's fish tacos were excellent, the large fried pieces of fish were bigger than anything I have ever seen on a taco, and the pickled onions on top were spectacular. My shrimp looked just like the picture the waitress had shown me! Robust, crunchy, juicy, expertly seasoned, and grilled to perfection with bacon, arugula, and a buttery lemon type sauce. 10/10, We will definitely be back!
