Great indian food and the best in the Medfield/Walpole/Sharon region! Me and my family have been searching for a great indian place in the Medfield surroundings for a while and 1947 got the trophy! It has a good ambiance (albeit a little noisy), great service and, more important, great food. The menu is extensive, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten free choices, and the seasoning and selection as authentic as it gets. We had the 70 cm dosa , samosas, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and a paneer dish that was very hot and different from all curries we had before. We'll definitely go back for more.

We picked out 1947 Norwood for a date night and were not disappointed. Huge menu with large gluten free and vegan selections. Everything is super flavorful and fresh. Portions are big and filling. The only downside was that we kind of got lost in the shuffle when all the DoorDash/pickup orders came in and had to flag down a server a few times for water refills and napkins.

Very clean and airy. We get goat or lamb vindaloo. So far it's been exceptionally good hope to return for other interesting items. Very good spice mixture. Brought family and they were very impressed.

Great food and vibes, 1947 Norwood offers a very extensive menu for all. LOCATION: Plenty of parking and space to accommodate large groups! The deco inside was very nice as well. FOOD: We ordered the mango lassi which was decent but not the best we had. My partner ordered the Lamb Chettinadu and liked it! I ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa and absolutely loved it - it had so much flavor and the crepe was perfect. We also ordered the Babai Idly and popcorn chicken to share. The babai idly was wonderful but popcorn chicken can be skipped. SERVICE: Staff was nice but helpful when we had questions!

A little hidden gem right off route 1 with an extensive menu and welcoming staff. There are plenty of tables inside, but it looks like they do a robust to go business as well. Portions are generous and the flavor in every sauce, meat and dish were delicious! Plus, we had plenty of leftover to take home for a second meal. My only call out is that the water cups are fairly small and you have to ask for refills a few times (especially if you order something spicier like the vindaloo)

What a lovely place!! Service was very attentive, not too busy, and the food was SO FLAVORFUL!!! Even when ordered spicy, the taste was phenomenal!!! Can't recommend the lamb saag or the popcorn chicken enough!!! Would visit again in a heartbeat!!

Decided to go here on a weekend afternoon. We made reservations on a whim. The decor is simple and nice. For our appetizers we ordered cut mirchi and chicken lollipop. Both were delightful. Chicken lollipop was slightly different from what we were expecting and have grown used to eating but nonetheless enjoyable. For our mains we ordered vegetable chettinad, telangana goat curry, chicken with hi gira curry along with garlic naan. Food arrived pronto, the spice levels were perfect for my palate. The vegetables in the chettinad needed some more time cooking, the vegetables were underdone. The naan was more like tandoori roti. We had some leftovers to take home. The meals were satisfying and so was the service.

There aren't many Indian restaurants (especially good ones) in the Boston area, more so to towards the south. We heard good reviews about 1947 Norwood and it's been on our list for a while. We went for the first time a month ago and by now we've already eaten thrice from there, haha.The first time we got a chai, filter coffee, the 1947 combo, and the spicy Kerala chicken appetizer. The coffee was spectacular with a sweet, milky taste and a frothy top. The chai couldn't compare to it. The chicken appetizer was crunchy and tasty but was served with a mayo sauce, but I'd prefer a more Indian dipping sauce like a green or red chutney. The 1947 combo came with two pieces of idli, one medu vada, sambar, and 2 types of chutney (coconut, peanut). Ooof, so good, comforting, and a delicious meal. The next two times, I ordered the same dish again - that's how wonderful it was. We also tried the rava masala dosa (would also highly recommend) and the dum chicken biryani which was good but lacked salt. It wasn't as spicy as some other restaurants make it, phew.The one thing that is just annoying is that, that tasty coffee is $5 a cup for a tiny tiny cup (smaller than a Starbucks grande) and served in a single-use cup rather than a traditional stainless steel cup. I think more people would be inclined to order if they changed the price structure or the quantity. One star less only for this point.Overall, would return again and again!

Haven't gone since we saw mice running around earlier this year. Does anyone know if that problem is resolved? It was absolutely gross sitting and eating food while mice were all over. They keep their doors open a lot , so they manage to come in. But since that experience , we haven't been back. Besides that, service was a bit slow then except for 1 of the men who is speedy. Food was usually pretty good. Hope they've taken care of the mice
